6:50 Rules as written, Titans can capture UNCONTESTED objectives, as the rule on page 103 doesn't mention needing any tactical strength, just that a model needs to be within 3" and no enemy models within 3". You need tactical strength to contest an objective so that's when Titans fail though (as you noted, Knights have a strength of 1 so can do it in theory, though infantry will easily steal it away with a strength of 5 and the need to double your opponent's strength).

The great slaughter was mentioned before in a couple of Horus Heresy novels and supplements dealing with Beta Garmon

Makes sense since GW has two large boxes in the wings for a future release focused on Knights (2 Acastus Knight Porphyrions, 4 Cerastus Knight Lancers, and 6 Questoris Knights) and Titans (1 Reaver, 2 Warhound, and 1 Warlord).

i have a feeling they are scrapping those boxes because you can't legally use the whole box in a game

Titans can capture objectives, they cannot capture them away from the enemy though, thats where the tactical strength comes in

I imagine something like 4-5k points as minimum, 70/30 Titans/NonTitanic split would make for a fantastic battle format. A 6x4 board wouldn't be all that crammed up, and it would help to sell the knight lance/titan box that they had previously advertised.

Given the existing rules and the price of infantry detachments, you could easily make a 70% Titan/Knight force with a significant 30% infantry ally force. And that is assuming that any forthcoming lists for Titan Legios and Knight Households don't have an option for intrinsic (Mechanicum) infantry units. So looking forward to the 'Great Slaughter' both from a lore view and a new rules perspective.

Woo! Look. There was absolutely no doubt. But I'll still take the win 😅

The Beta Garmon campaign got it's own supplement in Adeptus Titanicus, dealing with the ungoldy amount of titan legion warfare that went on in the cluster, so it'll be interesting to see how they put a spin on it for Imperialis. Hopefully they won't be using too much repeated fluff.

I mean, you can play a full titan vs titan battle, it's just called Adeptus Titanicus. ;). (Although joking aside, perhaps they can actually tie the two games together a bit and have a vague cross-over event that can be played out in both games?)

The mention of taghmata forces there makes me wonder if we are gonna get mech soon

Perhaps we will see inverted 70/30 lists with titans and skitarii, there still appears to be interest for it on reddit, see people writing their own rules and printing skitarii if GW doesnt do it

Night Lords would definitely be in this campaign! A lot of companies straight up ignored Konrad and followed Horus exclusively

Kudos for the video title, for a moment I thought GW made a proper announcement about it :P, but yeah the setting of that first battle report in White Dwarf was already a strong indication that it's going to be Beta Garmon and that's the Great Slaughter they mean.

They did mention the Great Slaughter as the first expansion.
