This looks great. Artwork is great. It is a lot of models here. Looks like you will get about 1500 points of models in one box. That is fantastic. If they price it decently which i think they will, this will be a runaway success. If this is under $300 and pushes towards $200, these will sell out in minutes. I am going to do Bretonnia and I cannot wait until I can see and ultimately buy tge Bretonnian box. I sold all my fantasy minis back in 2015/2016 due to the end times. Well I am back and ready to play some fantasy, paint great models, and make some new friends.

I've been getting ragged on by my son for years for keeping my Bretonnians - now I'll get to have the last laugh as most if not all of my 5e-8e models will be usable, aside from the re-basing. Luckily there are movement tray adapters so I can use those as I figure out how to rebase 4,000+ pts worth of Bretonnians & then Skaven (my dad - RIP - old army that my adult son is interested in trying out)

Great video and very interesting. I think its possible the price is higher than recent releases like LI, especially if they contain resin parts. Im also pretty bored of the "cash grab" comments, this is exactly what GW said they were releasing, not whatever a few vocal poeple say they had in their head. I personally think this is going to be super popular.

You talking about these specific boxes? They have zero resin. IMNSHO for these as well as the TOW line overall, the THH price points are probably in the right ballpark. And yes, the "cash grab" ones are tedious. And moronic. Especially the variants accusing GW of merely selling off leftover stock. That they held onto for eight years. Sure. The only ones worse are the ones that - even up until the first rules "almanack" on WarCom - were insisting that it's vaporware with no work done since its announcement. And some still claim that GW quickly threw something together within a couple weeks only a few months ago.

There's no reason for it to be more expensive - the moulds have been well and truly paid for, as has the design. There's no new pieces in TK.

@@twincast2005 I completely agree with the THH comment, looking at the size of the box that's the best analogy, which is fitting ofcourse. As you say it's extremely unlikely, and wouldn't make sense to include resin. The LI box is about half the thickness for those thinking it's more similar to that. In any case who cares, Bretonians woooooo

You know it's possible to want to play warhammer fantasy again and not want to use 26 yearold models? These came out in 2003, but used the Vampire Count 1998 models with an additional tomb kings sprue. Vampire count skeletons were updated in 2008, and these were not.

The horseman, horses and spearmen look exactly like my old plasitc from the mid 90s. Its good to know i can dust off my old figures and still be up to date. Might have to print the chariot bodies but otherwise im good.

@@blackbriargaming5483 Agreed - 4k+ assembled & another almost 3k primed/unassembled of Bretonnians are getting pulled out over the holidays to see how they've weathered the last 8 years & several moves; along with 9k (5k painted+2kprimed+over2k unassembled) worth of Skaven so my son can see if he wants to continue his Pop-Pop's horde. I also have to see how well or poorly the paints I got right before I stopped playing have fared.

when I saw the box for the first time, I almost fainted. My only beef with it is that I would take like 10-20 warriors less for some Tomb Guard. But that´s just nitpick, I really really love it. I am reading my old TK armybook cover to cover to just immerse myself. Also..I´ve been collecting the TKs and that basic warrior box, which stays the same, can get you any mix of sword and board/spears/archers. You can really build it in whatever mix you want.

0:40 Definitely not in China. The miniatures are made in Nottingham, England. And they likely haven't been sent out of GW's own warehouses yet. Also, the sign would say "caution" in Chinese.

I'm stoked for this. I know and understand people are grumpy about older sculpts, but I am here for it. I want the older models to fit with my existing armies.

With a dozen old school fantasy armies I'm all about the re-release of the old range. Bring back the early 2000s!! Minimalist is perfection.

I love the old minis. Very happy to see them again for this game

with that much stuff in it I think itll be more in line with the horus heresy box

I’m worried how expensive this will be. If this is over $300 USD, That’ll kill all of my excitement. Other concern is how long the bone dragon guy is going to be locked up in this bundle box before it’s sold as an individual kit.

Im interested in the price. 1k points is a great start, but this really feels awkward due to lacking much rank and file and having so much calvary. But with the starter box this should be a great buy. Dont understand why people are upset at old sculpts when this is exactly what GW said we would get, a few new sculpts and mostly returning old sculpts. Rank and file being basic is needed due to models needing to fit next to each other and look good in a horde

Yeah the bulk skeletons on horses is an odd choice. I would have gone a unit of Necropolis Knights instead.

Super hyped for this but the "tomb kings of khemri edition" on the front of the box makes me worried there wont be a combined brettonians and TK box. Either way, I for one am very happy about those classic sculpts coming back. Oldhammer is besthammer

GW confirmed no combined starter set. Bretonnia and Tomb Kings were going to have starter armies. Looks like the box will have the rulebook, templates, and dice in them though.

Very cool starter set. That’s a phenomenal amount of minis.

I currently have a small Brettonian force from the 5th? ed WHFB and a larger Tomb Kings force of about 100 minis. Now I'm torn on which launch box I should get. I'm guessing I'll get the Bret one since I need more of those. I'd like to get both but I think that will be out of my budget. I'm guessing between $230-$299 USD for these, hopefully less but I doubt it.

I wouldn't be surprised if each box was US$300-350.

I really hope these army boxes stick around for at least the next few years as an easy way for people to jump into an army. The apparent launch races being both the armies I've been wanting to paint and play for a long time is given me fomo.

Looks to me that its only core units - which I like since I want core to play a bigger role. Therefore I think there wont be any foot knights in the Bretonnia box. Maybe pegasus since its old modells. Definitely knights of the realm, damsel and probably new lord and plenty of peasants?

Just a small point but if it was a warehouse in china wouldn't the caution sign be in chinese?

You can tell its in the UK or USA, the yellow caution sign is in English

That box is ass. Everyone who plays that army needs snakes(Necropolis Knights, Sepulcher Stalkers) and the Ushabti (archers and great swords), and the Sphinx variants. The dragon is nice though.

Do we think there will be individual army books for each faction on release as well ?Would love both boxes but a bit annoying to have two rulebooks!

Why would they combine ABs? They never have, & if they do for Brets & TKs, how else would they combine the others? Also, most folks don't care to own ABs for armies they don't own.

@@VAwitch Er... I think you have misunderstood me, I know they wouldn't do dual army books, what I meant was if your buying both boxes you are going to have two copies of the same rulebook.

The orcs and all factions will be released exactly like the Bretonnians. A new character/HQ big model. Re-release of faction staples. Maybe a new plastic unit. A few new resin Hero/Lord options.

@@blackbriargaming5483 - That's awesome, and I am stoked! Orcs had 3 flavors: Plain Orcs, Savage Orcs, and Black Orcs. I am hoping more Plain Orcs and Black Orcs in the box. Also excited about Chaos and Beastherds. I will likely settle on one of these three, but Wood Elves have an outside chance to win me over.

Are these going to be a combination of new and old sculpts? 😮

It seems like the Cavalry are organized in ranks of 4. Curious to see if it will be 4 Cavalry to a rank vs 5 for infantry.

Good catch! Yeah that might be the new norm due to their increasing base size.

These models were dated when I started in 1998. Heck, they were worse on the day they came out than the preceding plastic skeletons they replaced.

I hope The Old World succeeds and stays around for a long time. I don't like future settings such as 40K. I'm going to start collecting a miniature wargame soon. I have the disposable income now & I'm pissed off that MESBG is discontinued! I won't play an I.P. that I have no emotional connection to. I'm thinking heavily on SW: Legion or Shatterpoint. Or Maybe Marvel Crisis. I do love Warhammer Fantasy, I love the lore. I just hope The Old World succeeds & doesn't get discontinued after a few years because I am seriously contemplating going with this one.

MESBG isnt discontinued at all. They dont release as much new stuff as for other games, but theyre clearly holding on to the IP, and rutor is there will be a Rings of power expansion too. Dont know about that one, but it surely is still supported and produced.

Why didnt they made the skellies new those are the minis from over 20 years ago just with a khemri standart 0o

Because they dont need to update it for rank and file. A skeleton is a skeleton for rank and file, all the extra details dont really matter outside characters because units easily can have 50+ in a single squad

So is this box gonna be like, $350? Or, is the scale going to be smaller? Age of Sigmar models aren't really cheaper than 40K, so, things like those chariots should be rocking up at $40 each, MAYBE $60 for 2. 32 box of infantry has got to be $100, like, even 20 skinks are $60. That dragon has to be $100. Like, there are probably $520 of minis in this box at 'normal' rates. $100 for 1 dragon and 1 hero on foot $100 for 32 archers $120 for 40 spears (MAYBE, that makes them as cheap as skinks) $100 for 3 chariots $100 for 16 cavalry (at least, in reality thats like $200 of cavalry) And then rulebooks, templates etc Maybe the old models have fewer parts and are just way cheaper to make? Maybe they just had a tonne of plastic skeleton archers and spearmen cluttering up the warehouse. I guess maybe they can bring it in at a leviathan level discount? But thats a steep discount on models which are already MASSIVELY cheaper than their 40k or sigmar equivalents would have been.

The last army boxes I think were around $300-400, but I think might have had more points of models. I'm budgeting $300 as a start point until more info is released.

i'm kinda torn on the old sculpts. on the one hand it's great they are giving oldhammer another chance, and i think being able to release the old sculpts cuts their cost and risk greatly. on the other hand people might be turned off by the old sculpts and wont buy them. if all goes perfectly, people will buy these sufficiently to encourage gw to invest more into oldhammer and expand the mini line up. if not, gw gets the impression ppl dont want oldhammer bc they dont sell enough but only bc the models are too old. similiar problem to epic IMO. i get why it makes sense to put a more niche product into a limited setting with the ability to reuse a lot of old, presumably bad selling, kits (aeronautica and titanicus) they invested a lot in, but at least my interest dropped near zero when they announced it'd be set in horus heresy. i love my xenos.

Honestly the skeletons should have been remade. They looked and were old already two decades ago. Compared to the 7th edition VC skeletons they are just so ugly and chunky. One of the last really bad looking units left

Gah. I want to be so excited for this. I loved Warhammer Fantasy. But it seems GW is doing a no effort cash grab, to be honest. The bone dragon looks cool, all the other models are EXTREMELY dated. The infantry and horse are almost 21 years old now. They can make so much better looking kits. If this was all new models, or models from the last tomb king refresh + new models, I would be all over it. As it is, hard pass for me, personally. I don't want to buy 21 year old models, and I wager most other folks wont be buying this either. Edit; these are the 1998 skeletons with a sprue added to make them tomb kings in 2003, so if they release in 2024, they will be 26 yearold models in the launch box of the new edition. The 1998 skeletons were replaced in 2008 for vampire counts.

We wanted fantasy back as fantasy, not AOS on square bases. Rank and file models are fine as simple kits when you need dozens of models for one unit and complicated sculpts flat out do not work for rank and file units

Pure copium. No sphinx, snakes, tomb guard, just the most dated models in the whole range.

I'm low key considering selling my Asoiaf army i had a feeling ASOIAF will die when the OG rank and file game release

I can't get into a game i have no nostalgia for when the models are this bad. Maybe I'll be able to use the new slaves to darkness in old world. Otherwise not for me

@@Jason-gq8fo I didnt get into warhammer until after fantasy died. And yet, I still love the old models. Not everything needs to be super detailed, and making it so just increases the cost for new players even more

I will be surprised if people buy these you can literally buy a whole army for the like 200 off 3rd party websites that have better sculpts than this

What an absolute joke. The game is truly designed to die on arrival. Those skeleton's core models are 1998 models with 2003 upgrade sprues. Bad models by todays standards. And they're not going to attract any new players - in fact they're gonna turn people off. Which means very few new plastic kits for us. So awful watching people bend over and take it from GW lmao.

As a new player, it isnt the model detail that drew me in. Seeing empire or bretonnia on the table have extremely old and not very detailed sculpts, but its the vibrancy and the sheer numbers that seperate fantasy from the crowds. AoS players wont like it, but frankly thats not a very big overlap anyway. They have a high magic fantasy setting to play with, so why buy into a low magic setting thats almost but not quite the same?

AoS quite frankly matches the numbers of most WFB editions in terms of model count. But that aside the Empire soldiers are 2013 sculpts... Brets are 2004 but weirdly hold up. And most of the successful new models in AoS are literally Warhammer Fantasy Battles miniatures updated that would have existed no matter what, had GW not squatted it. The entire Vampire Counts army, for example, are literally classic fantasy models updated. AoS are now even stealing classic WFB characters and giving them models - something they could have just done with WFB. And the point is that... lotta people left Warhammer altogether when they destroyed the Old World - and many AoS players play it through gritted teeth. They like the fresh new models and the simple ruleset but hate the overall game but have nothing else to play. Warhammer The Old World is just not going to attract many new players or even old players other than a few chumps who think a 100 page rulebook is acceptable in 2023. @@aidanquiett668

Personally this has killed every bit of interest i had in this game. Absolutely nothing refreshed. Those sculpts were ancient when the game wad cancelled. No way a new player sees this box and the state of those minis and willingly pay money when they see aos minis or 40k. Massive dissapointment

Is this not what you expected? Its what everyone I know of wanted, WHFB coming back as it was. Only issue I see is pricing, but outside that I dont see why we should be upset about getting what they promised. Remember, almost all the brettonians are the old sculpts
