My goodness. In the beginning, I thought this video was useless as there was no way any decade-old phone would be able to compete with the s22 ultra. Nokia 808 wasn't that good. But Lumia 1020 is really good and I was surprised.

Even though the lumia 1020 came out 9 years ago, it's doing great work. If nokia had not been sold, cell phone cameras would have been much better now.

Once Micro and Soft infiltrated Nokia to make the sale, it was a forgone conclusion. I knew that a-head was trouble from the moment he took seat. And what came of it? Yet another failure on Micro and Soft's part. Imagine being given a perfectly tuned Ferrari, and because you're a hick, the only thing you can possibly do with it... is take it to the demolition derby. Micro & Soft should've never been given the keys, Nokia wasn't for rednecks and useless hacks who rely on governments to keep their business running.

HMD just killed the Nokia brand with cheaply-made garbage phones.

I love and still use my Lumia 1020. If you can find on the Lumia 950/XL both had great optics and made some darn good images in their own right. All the Lumias work best in manual mode and like any camera once you know them well you can get some really good shots most modern phones mess up with the over-processing.

I'm so glad that the Nokia 1020 was the presenter for this video; it's great hearing the phone's take on things XD ;--)

@Geek's Table I was choosing between 1020 and S22. And i have also both 3 model phones. I still prefer the 1020 and 808 for close shoot photos. For High Distance Shoot Photos i Prefer S22 with 10x Optical Zoom.

From Sistore it's possible to get some hdr apps for Nokia 808 pureview and who gives very good results especially for night shots

Awesome! It's so sad how crappy camera updates have been. Yes the ai and hdr is great. But sensor development has been garbage for years. If only we could get the 808 sensor on a newer phone with ois. And keep its more mature natural processing. Especially if it had the dual aperture. Or at least one of these current 50mp sensors be a regular bayer sensor.

There are physical limitations that cannot be overcome. The bigger the sensor is, the more space is required between it and the lens. That's why most of the progress has been on the software side. Some of the newer sensors do however manage to cram more pixels into their area - this Samsung one has a very high density.

@@jackskellington9570 Don't listen to James, the latest phones like Xiaomi Mi 12 Ultra has a bigger main sensor than the Pureview (1 inch v 1/1.2") and it also has 2 extra cameras, the ultra wide and 5x Telephoto. It's no a size problem, the issue is we started using Quad bayer sensors instead of Classic bayer, the benefits of which includes better HDR but the downside is that you don't gain resolution because essentially you are splitting one native pixel into quadrant i.e. Quad Pixel binning. So the 50mp sensors you see today are really 12.5mp and the 108mp on the Samsung is really a 27mp sensor whereas the Toshiba made sensors in the Nokia phone were true 41mp (38mp effectively) sensors which result in more natural Sharpness and detail vs the fake added Sharpness in modern smartphones.

can anybody please explain why the photo i shot using 1020 with flash on (shoting a spinning fan) is better compared to s22 ultra same with flash on ? ( i even tried manual and low exposure, iso etc) still the 1020 shot is much better

Nokia 808 and 1020 have a Xenon flash. This is the same type of flash used on "real" cameras. Modern phones use LED flash, and it's more of a torch these days as people just use night mode With s22, maybe try manuial mode, turn the iso up a little and the shutter speed quicker

Одно исправление для автора ролика, красивее не значит правильней, самый красивый снимок это всегда самый естественный снимок, и то что там приходится красок добавлять не делает фото красивее, это иллюзия красоты не более

I got 100% correct. LOL, too easy. Nokia really likes white balance towards green/yellow. HDR is bad too. NO sharpness. 808 is really a great camera. I really want to buy an 808 to finish my Nokia collection.

I was not a big fan of Lumia phones,but Nokia 1020 is still the best on photo camera on mobiles. Samsung S22 ultra, without AI, is just a smartphone...if you want a real advanced camera smartphone go get Xperia Pro or Xperia 1 IV...

Very late to the comments.. But it was easy spotting the Nokia phones.that green/ yellow tint and the soft looking photos,it was a constant problem.

Sometimes it's like that, other times it just looks natural and the s22 is over processed. Our eye is attracted to the extreme sharpness, but looking closer you can see that there isn't actually any more detail

Nokia808 still unbeaten atleast by my two phones vivo5 2017, and redminote10pro 2021 midrange phone When you zoom in the result images looks like pixelated over saturation but convenient unlike the 808 natural color but you need good angle coz sometimes blurry and dark results without software processor to make it sharp

If i compare all of the pics: Nokia 808 pureview: 9 S22 Ultra: 5 Nokia lumia 1020: 4 Tbh nokia lumia looked the best. But i liked the slight red and white tint on the nokia 808 pureview. And s22 ultra is just clean. Kinda boring.

Lmao, still can't beat the 1020. It has some edging, but it doesn't even come close in terms of image reality. In the spotting contest, i didn't lose once, because of this. All i had to do was spot the fake output, the industrial feel of the images and dismiss that as S22, then out of the remaining two, i had to choose the better image, thus finding the 1020. A shame Nokia isn't interested in returning to the market and leaving it to HMD to muddle up. Right now, if they bent the horse backwards and brought at least the heads and key team players from before the time Micro and extremely Soft infiltrated the company via the CEO, and put forth a tenth of the nutty flavor, and quality, they'd make bank. The world is just about done with copy/pasta phones that are just endless remixes of the same flavor of old, soggy noddles that aren't even able to hold noodle form anymore.

If you know how to use it N808 is still the best. Images looks like taken with analog camera. I can not find better quality. There is no HDR but who needs HDR? But there are sharpness, saturation, and contrast sliders so you can create, control almost any kind of situation. 8mp images looks better than any today's flagship. Yes it has some limitations but I never missed any action.Dedicated camera button, xenon flash that freeze any action. Square sensor that records FHD video horizontaly independent of how you hold the camera. Mechanical shutter,ND filter.who needs more. Mine is stile close to me. I switched to Lumia 950XL great Raw's but horrible jpgs, far behind of N808. Then Huawei p30pro-huge disappointment. Shutter lag in pro mode etc. Absolutely useless for action, ugly artificial overprocessd images. Now S23U. Expert RAW is kind of joke.Samsung and other companies treats customers like stupid, blind as...les.Sometime cheap phones takes better images than so called flagships. Still Nokia, Xiaomi. Probably the only choice for photography is Sony 1V but I don't like screen proportions. Did I mentioned about video of Nokia 808? I saw few videos a week ago.Looks like taken with pro camera. Detail on shadows and light. Beautiful grain. My settings EV -0.3, contrast and saturation -1 if I remember and max sharpness because it looks fine. No stairs or artifacts. Just great . I omitted Lumia1020 because of physically smaller sensor oversaturated images and smaller than N808 preview file 8mp of N808 vs 5 of 1020. Same with video quality. I recognised all of n808 images😎

Having owned a nokia lumia 920, 1020 and currently a s23 ultra...all i can say is i miss my pureviews Nokia. I believe overall they took better pictures more often the only drawback was the processor at the time being slow due to the 40mega pixels. Till this date my Nokia have taken the best pictures notcto mention they were awesome and flawless in low light conditions
