808 gives it a real Movie feel. 920 looks like a home video camcorder!!

One of the best videos I have ever seen on KZread. Thanks Andy. Rui Coelho is exactly right, "that nokia 808 is a camera with a phone , the 920 it's a phone with a camera, congrats you made amazing videos." The only "issue" for me with the 808 is image stabilization. But... wow! What phenomenal photos.! I wish Nokia would now make a phablet with the 41 megapixel sensor, with stabilization, and 4K video. THAT would be the bees knees!

Personally, I'm always in love with high contrast cameras. But dang, 808 just made me doubt my own feelings. Anyways, greet video man! I'm glad I've subscribed on your channel.

The reason why he liked less contrast is because the details are preserved, and you can adjust the contrast later on. Whereas if the phone records at high contrast by default, grain will appear if the contrast is lowered in post production. :)

Andy, I just bought Nokia 808 Pureview. Yes this November 2015 only. I must say I am really impressed with the Camera of 808. Btw, I am an Iphone and BB user. The symbian OS might be dead, but the Nokia 808 cam is simply amazing. And your video, is very informative, best detailed! Thanks! :)

im so thankful for guys like you the nokia 920 is amazing i never knew camera phones were that good and i wasted my money on a logitech c920 webcam cause its hd but when i film im not pleased with the shots but that lumia is incredilbe im returning that logitech and getting one of these nokia 920 it looks like a professional shot unless your really good at editing videos and yo make it look that good. thanks dude.

Is the lack of contrast setting software or hardware relating? That is, could it be fixed with a better recording application (that could come in the future)? Great video and great work. I love it.

Brilliant production, all we need now is the 808 and the 920 to have a baby. I have the 808, and its really a breakthrough device in mobile photography.

the 41mp is used to oversample in video too if you didnt know...thats wat gives the video super high detail levels even at that hign compression!

The 808 wins for me hands down. Able to do 24-25 fps for that film look and you can always color correct when editing.

Your shooting is wonderfull .Can you make a short film with lumia 1520 ?

Andy, please help. How do you deal with the autofocus in Lumia cameras so they don't "hunt" for the focus. It's obvious sometimes when the continuous autofocus doesn't work well.

I think with the new Nokia lumia 1020 you can make even more stellar short clip videos. You are a great director as well! Keep it up. Btw ur actor is also good. Kudos! :-)

I can see that the 920 have some issues with auto white balance, you can see the white balance shifting/flickering, which is really annoying and pretty hard to fix in post, so 808 all the way too.

What camera are you using filming this entire video? it looks amazing

hey, what grip u use to hold the nokia lumia 920 to your slider?

this odyssey of mine to get me my first smartphone ever ends right here. Never cared about smartphones, just have a simple Nokia cellphone plus a Casio EX-FS10 in my pockets. Contax 645 (not in my pockets) when I get serious. Yet the Casio broke down, so... I have seen video's of a host of them: iPhones, Galaxy, Xperia & so on. Then I thought the LG G4 might be it. Then I read a remark on the Nokia 1020 on a forum. Being an oldfashioned lover of cinema, I find the 808 astounding. I need to get this 808 to go through the experience myself... thank you for this great review! Very curious how the 808 will turn out.

Did you shoot this video using one of this cellphones? I have an 808 and, after a few tests, I'm astonished with the results, but I need to know how to achieve the film look in both color and black and white, using the camera options. It really confuses me a lot sometimes. Thanks!

Always a pleasure to learn from and enjoy your videos. I wish you did reviews more often. How do these phones compare to iphones? Seems like the one with the all the controls would smoke the iphone. I have an iphone 4s and had to purchase a bunch of apps to do what the Nokia 808 has built in.

Hi Andy. I'm a big fan. I've been following your work for a few years. I'm thinking of getting a 920 simply for video only. I won't even enable it as a phone. I'm wondering if you think they'll fix some of the problems you spoke of through firmware updates.

excellent color brightness and contrast of the video, could upload video unedited? many ups raw video and color resembles yours, but in the store where they sell the phone the colors do not look like yours, where you set the color brightness and contrast of video on the phone or application for have that color, thanks in advance

his settings are right...you are right about the video being better at high cont and sharp without any editing...but if you grade the low contrast video, it'll look even better than the unedited one..

New Nokia 1020 pureview is out! This was such a good comparison, I would love to see a comparison of pureview 808 and pureview 1020!!!
