Normal carbs work on velocity not volume, jets need velocity to push air through, lectron needs volume to create vacuum to suck gas

🤯 ok that makes sense. WHY DID NOBODY ELSE SAY THIS?! I even spoke with Lectron on the phone. Didn’t hear anything like that. But your simple explanation 👌🏻

Suck air through* the down stroke on that cylinders firing cycle sucks the air fuel in (vacuum is created after the exhaust stroke), a venturi in the carburettor helps speed up the air coming in to force a bit more air and therefore fuel into the combustion chambers. The speed of the bike when moving 'can' force some more air in, but the amount depends on the setup.

just gonna be the annoying guy who comments about small facts pressure(vacuum in this case) and velocity are inversely related, your statement has to have a mistake at some point. Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernoulli%27s_principle

Jake, the smartest thing I did when I was building my house was a had them install plumbing and a utility sink in the garage. Not a big house and only a 2 car garage but being able to fill it some and clean parts in it is awesome!!!! Beats putting stuff in the tub or the dishwasher (yeah I have done that, lol)...

A 2 car garage in the UK is pretty impressive lol In the US it seems like every house has one, if not a triple or quad garage, I love it.

Here's grip install tip if you care. 2 wraps of electrical tape, sticky side towards the bars. spray down the the tape and the inside of the grip with WD-40, then, slide them into place. I double dare you to get it to slip after 20 minutes. I've had my pillow tops with hand guards installed like that for at least 5 years and I'm thinking about replacing them because they are getting smooth. Not because they move. I'm not sure what chemical reaction takes place but, they have to be cut off when changed. I've been doing it like this for 15 years. Never had any issues. Even crashing into mud and water they don't fail.

Love the build, just put the same grips on my BRP. An easy way to cut the end of the grips for hand guards is to put a socket on a long extension inside the grip. Put the grip on a wooden surface and smack the extension with a hammer. The socket will cut through the end of the grip with a perfect circle. Keep up the good work!

The Venturi on a carb is like an airplane wing with another wing upside down on top of it if that makes sense. Easy explanation. You essentially have the tops (the curved part) of 2 wings inside of the Venturi creating a low pressure condition and thus accelerating (and cooling) the air. That's how this carb works, and is why the backside of the metering rod is flat and the filter side is round. You get a low pressure area on the flat side that varies with elevation and temperature. The Lectron detects the differences in the low pressure area behind the metering rod and compensates accordingly. Hope I didn't get too nerdy lol

Sorry if I'm teaching anyone to suck eggs. But if you get a peice of steel tube thats a the same size as your bars then sand the outer diameter until the grip is loose enough to slide on and off with no free play, you can slip the grip over the tube and then using a mallet use the tube like a cookie cutter to remove the center material from the grip. On the throttle side perform this step then run and exact knife around the inside to open the hole a smidge. Hope this helps. Love the videos dude and very jealous.

Euro bikes aren't restricted, they wouldn't put a different carb for emissions on as we don't have regulations on bikes ,we can ride anything on the road if it's registered and insured. That other carb was probably for California regs. Lots of bikes from the u.s that get imported to the UK need uncorking ...for instance there's probably 40 + states you can't register that XR especially if it's an R model as your paperwork says track use only. We have street legal trials bikes and they don't even have a saddle or headlight . Bikes looking awesome though..I'm a big XR fanboy .

Would have never thought to use WD-40 as a cleaner until I seen Jake do it 👍 Used some today to clean up the engine on my Fazer, worked great. Thanks Jake !!

I'm really interested in this Lectron Carb, they're priced under what a lot of aftermarket performance carbs are. So if it works well, might have to get one
