LeBron Takes Full Max, What This Means For Lakers And What's Next

Спорт

The Lakers won't get a discount from LeBron after all, an indication they weren't able to make use of the flexibility he offered...

    Free agents were dodging the Lakers and the Buss children long before Lebron 😂. He’s the only reason they have a shot at the players they do have and the Lakers know it. Without Lebron and Klutch this is one of the poorest ownership groups in the league who were fighting over the team once the father died with a former agent running the show that no one in the league likes. They are lucky Lebron is there and they know it. Thats why they still signed him to the Max even though they didn’t technically have to. Holding onto late first rd picks is why they aren’t getting players.

I disagree, about removing him from trade talks he is solid for regular seasonand has improved his defense but he has consistently shown he will dissappear in some important playoff games it'd be fine if he was a 4th option or a real x-factor that can just get scorching hot to where he's unstoppable regardless of defense, but that is not him. In the playoffs he will just have too many off nights with the same kind of shots he always gets which aren't ever ridiculously contested, their always decent respectable looks

    People are pointing the finger at just Rob, but I completely called it and knew this was going to happen. Expecting Harden, Klay, or DeRozan to take the MLE was an impossible task. You can’t blame Klay for choosing Dallas over the Lakers when they were just in the Finals, plus the tax benefits will come out to about the same in salary, if not more, after. It was LeBron who called Klay and likely encouraged the front office to focus on him, the bigger name, versus improving the team with quality role players, which was always Rob’s plan. So what did that do? It caused the Lakers to be left holding the bag, as expected, while guys that could have improved the roster ended up getting traded or signing with other teams. The Lakers had the opportunity to make the Caruso for Reaves trade. The Lakers had the picks to make the Murray trade. The Lakers would have then had the MLE to sign either Jonas or even Jalen Smith as a backup big. This would have been the simple, and somewhat creative approach that would have improved the team greatly. This is not Monday morning quarterbacking. I have been saying this since the last trade deadline and end of the season. The issue with the Lakers is there are too many chefs in the kitchen, they are not creative enough to make quality trades, and now Rob will be left to clean up the mess. Examples of Rob being “encouraged” to peruse the bigger names and the messes he’s had to clean up: trying to sign Kawhi, trading for Westbrick that caused them DeRozan and Hield, Hield and Turner trade being vetoed by Jeanie Buss, and now trying to sign Klay, Harden, and DeRozan to the MLE. 🤦‍♂️

    Is there any reason you assume you can't enjoy the season? Take a look at the roster. It's pretty darned good. Winning the offseason isn't everything. You've still got a team with two superstars and young talent to watch. You can see if Max Christie, Jalen Hood-Schifino, or Dalton Knecht become NBA players. The defense should improve with Vincent and Vanderbilt healthy. The team has good shooting, can attack the basket, and their interior defense has a rock in the middle. This is not a team to get depressed about.

    He can play Center in the offensive end though. The thing is he does it all defensively. Our team can’t rebound properly. He needs a big to help him on the defensive end. If he contests the best offensive player of the opposing team and forces a miss, there will be a second chance fg right after. That has been the story of our team for the past 2 years. And yet again, even we got that big, if it isn’t a big that is considered a threat from the outside our spacing will look terrible. Imagine a lineup with AD Lebron a big that can’t shoot plus Austin and Dlo. Horrible spacing. You can argue that Lebron shot 41% from 3 last season but it is not sustainable. That was an outlier. He won’t shoot it over 40% from 3 ever again.

  • @AllMenMustServe

    @AllMenMustServe

    You also can argue that neither Dwight or McGee were shooting bigs and we were successful. But as of now we don’t have Kuzma Danny Green and a younger Lebron who were good defensively. Instead you have Dlo Reaves who are horrible defensively and a Lebron who only defends in the playoffs or big games. And even the big we might get, they even grasp the defensive skills McGee and Howard had. So basically, we are f*cked. This year the west will be even stronger. Golden State Memphis Spurs Rockets were all teams that missed the playoffs last year and they all improved.

    As a Lakers fan, it isn’t about Bron taking a pay cut. It’s about do players really wanna play with him when the season is going to be about him and his son and player/coach with no experience. Players wanna win now and not play second fiddle behind a bunch of distractions. Bron and clutch fleeced the lakers into drafting bronny.

    Honestly, different scenarios, but same results as Kobe 10+ years ago. Articles from Forbes, Bleacher, even Miami Herald, to Shaq's book and other NBA players echoed, "nobody wants to play with Kobe." This was the prevailing theme as to why free agent after free agent spurned Kobe and the Lakers. And that was with Mitch as the GM. This is an indictment on the one commen denominafor: *The Lakers front office.*

    There would be distractions regardless if we got bronny or reddick. The media has put a lense on any of the teams Lebrons been on bc the expectation is to always win now. It's just a matter of players being able to look past the media and play well. The 2020 team had every distraction thrown at them, and could've made the finals regardless of the bubble. Then Rob deconstructed the team and we've been dealing with one and done rosters since

The Lakers have too many players who can't either defend or score. Yeah, it would be nice if both LeBron and AD were putting up almost 30 or 30 a night. That isn't the case. The amount of Disgust, Anger, And most of all Disappointment i feel as a diehard Lakers fan is truly insane. They do NOTHING at the deadline and Harp about the fact we will have 3 tradeable first round picks to use in trades come summer and yet here we are. FA began 6pm sunday and it's 3pm Wednesday and they've done absolutely NOTHING. The warriors and clippers lost top talent. Clippers losing best player in PG , Warriors losing 2nd best guy in Klay and yet Both have bounced back making a ton of moves since those things happened. We have seen the ceiling of this team. Look it's a good team when everyone's healthy and playing there best. But it's not a great team and not a team that's gonna go far in playoffs. We've seen TWO straight years in a row vs Denver that we weren't good enough. We weren't big enough. What's the biggest position we've needed for the past two years?! A competent/ playable back up big that can play 10-15 mins a night and play alongside AD in matchups such as Denver. They've KNOWN THIS. Yet they have done NOTHING to adress this. I like Hayes/ Wood but at BEST there a third/ 4th string option they aren't good enough to be our second big. It's absolutely baffling to me. Your the Lakers one of the most historic and successful franchises in not just the NBA but of all sports in the world. Act like it. Because rn this is a dark dark sign to think 5 years from now when there is no Lebron and is no AD what this team will look like and if they will be a team allstar players don't want to play for. There trying to thread the needle between competing and building for the future. Im sorry but you can't do both pick a direction. Bc being a mid team with 2 top 10 players is a disrespect to the players, fans , etc.

Klay didn't take less, Derozan isn't taking less. These guys are going to the highest bidder. You expect guys to take less because "It's the Lakers"?

    The main issue is this: Lakers have an urgency to make a move and the teams they are looking to trade with have no urgency, and they shouldn't. Nets, Blazers, and Bulls are rebuilding and collecting picks. No need to rush into anything, so all of a sudden the price for a Jerami Grant, Cam Johnson, or anyone will cost more. A trade to clear a spot doesn't help because you're not gonna clear enough space for a DeRozan and there's not really anyone else left that moves the needle. People don't want DLo and a 3-team trade is tough. Lakers have to open a trade up like DeRozan + Vucevic or Jerami Grant and Robert Williams.
