Leave the Someday Isle and Start Before You’re Ready | Leslie M. Bosserman | TEDxEustis
Many people have great ideas, but stay stuck in their coulds, shoulds, and somedays. With a mixture of wit and whimsy, Leslie M. Bosserman, M.Ed., CPCC shares how to leave the Someday Isle and activate three tools to start before you’re ready. Fueled by local coffee and big dreams, this dynamic mom of three is on a mission to help you get unstuck! After working in higher education, she launched Lead With Intention® and has researched, coached, and trained teams around the world on the science of Emotional Endurance to enhance their fulfillment. Leslie has served on the leadership team for TEDxSacramento and volunteered in Jordan teaching leadership in local schools. After becoming a parent, she created The Makers Place™, Sacramento’s first coworking space with onsite childcare offering flexible solutions for local families. Leslie graduated from UCLA with her Bachelor’s in Mass Communications and a Master's of Education and is a Certified Professional Co-Active Coach. She is a novice pickleball player and an expert bargain shopper! Leslie lives in Northern California with her family, and travels internationally for coaching, organizational trainings, and retreat facilitation. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I feel like my mental endurance is holding me back. At my last sport, I quit - no excuse, and I frankly didn't want an excuse. I just flat out quit. I kept having negative thoughts until it became to much that I stopped. Since then I have been really disappointed in myself. It was a really depressing moment to be completely honest.

Find a way to turn the negative thoughts into helping thoughts. For me, it's digging to the root of the negative voices and realizing that I was trying to protect myself with them.

It takes a lot of courage to share what you have here and just naming the issue can be the start of your breakthrough. Next time you want to quit, visualize what your life will look and feel like in ONE year if you don’t quit. Then decide today is not the day for quitting…

I’m so glad to hear this and it’s one of my favorites
Someone told me that when you're about to start a project or a hobby, the more you tell people about it, the less likely you are to actually do it. See your brain doesn't know the difference between actually doing the thing and just thinking about doing it or imagining that you've done it. So the more people you tell and the more positive reinforcement you get back from them it's like your brain thinks you've already done it so eventually you just run out of enthusiasm to do it. I don't know if this is true for other people but it's definitely real for me so now I just have to do things without telling anyone until I've actually done it!
