I genuinely don't mean this as a snarky comment but it's refreshing seeing a KZread guitarist not playing perfectly for a change. Like we know you're a good guitarist Fluff, but you showed yourself learning something you couldn't just nail first time and stumble around a new scale. It's like a hot Instagram model showing herself without makeup. Reminds us all that practice makes perfect and everyone has to practice, even the KZreadrs you follow

I was going to say the same thing. Amen to all of us learning. Fluff is always a fun watch and this one makes all of us human.
Nowadays, learning how to play the guitar can't be easier. Stuff like this or Rocksmith just helps a lot. I see when couple years ago my friend start learning to play along with Rocksmith and did this way faster then me when i start without anything like this. Amazing what pepole can do this days

I have Rocksmith but there is a delay when I strum to when I actually hear it and I'm not sure how to fix that. I haven't used it after the first time using it because of the delay.

@@jamesmorrison7407 If you can, see if you can change your sound device settings to ASIO in the control panel (assuming you are playing on PC). If on consoles, check the settings to see if there's a calibrate option. Hope this helps!

Rocksmith has ended up being a great tool for me, especially with the custom forge. There are a lot of missing techniques, but I still use it to learn songs in disconnected mode all the time.

Sorry but no, you don't learn how to play the guitar, you learn how shapes are formed on a grid. You're not a musician you're a gridologist.
@30_second_guitar

@@jfar3340 Yes you learn patterns and how things sound on guitar. If you just play like guitar hero you just play very difficulty game but if you apply this to record or even just play alone without game you cane become musican. And what diffrent makes if you learn patterns and shapes from video game or from teacher/tabs etc
Honestly. This seems like an amazing idea for people who might struggle with this in the beginning and just need a different way of being shown it.

The most adult thing to ever say.
The Fretllight came out in the early 90's and the LED's were milled into the fret board. Still around but this ones learning activity option is really cool.
Man, this the Fret Zealot review video I’ve been looking for. Thank you
Like the idea for practicing scale shapes, and looks cool. Nice job. Being able to change the lighting just for ambience would be cool, maybe some simple animations.
will there be a full review on that sterling majesty?
have you reviewed that guitar? if not, will you be doing so? ty
It’s definitely cool. Also, that tone was sick.
This is genius, well done!
I absolutely love covering ADTR songs.. Where was this when I started learning how to play around 14 years ago? Man kids today have it so nice. If I had something like this I probably wouldn't have so many bad self taught habits lol
Hey Fluff, who makes the sound treatments on your walls? I can't find them anywhere. Thanks.
At first, automatically we old-schoolers might think this is crap but let's be more open minded about new stuff... I think it's great if it helps more people be interested on actually playing an instrument, specially guitar!

Thank you! Currently 90% of new players give up. If we can help retain even a small percentage more, it's a huge win for the industry and everyone.

@@FretZealot Exactly! It's very important to retain beginners! Can people find it here in Brazil? It would be a pleasure to make a review in portuguese on my channel or at other already more developed channel here; I know quite a few with 30, 60 or 100k subs. Let me know if it interests you gbollini.eng@gmail.com
I could definitely use this
does this have some way to control the lights by midi or dmx? this would look cool in a music video but if it's not controllable then that wouldn't really work.

Not DMX, but you can upload custom Guitar Pro files. We have plans for a "Pro" version some day that fully integrates with DMX and is more specifically for light shows, scrolling text, Tetris...
can you maybe review this guitar? thinking about buying it. but almost no reviews on her :(
What guitar were you playing cause it looked fire bro
Very cool!
I play 6 strings in drop tunings. Is this worth it for me to give it a try? Ty

58 tunings currently available 👍 . The scales all update when you change the tuning.
the light show might look good on stage

OH HELL YEAH
fluff.. when you wear the BO shirt you need to use a 28" + baritone :)
I love how fluff is like "wow so that's how to play an A minor!!!!" lololol
@jfar3340
Жыл бұрын
yay I know how to play ''A minor'', but I don't the know the notes, the intervals and the sounds of the scales! I'm a musician! OOps sorry I meant I'm a gridologist!
the juxtaposition between the midi and Fluff's killer tone was so jarring lol.
Does it account for alternate tunings?
@FretZealot
4 жыл бұрын
Yes! 58 are currently available. If you change the tuning, the scales all update accordingly.
I want that shirt.
I can't recall where I previously saw this, but the idea of it being re-usable, or sturdy enough for removing/adding multiple times seemed to be a concern with the LED strips. It looks like one accidental pull could rip the black adhesive part. Maybe the material is tough but flexible, but for 200 bucks, if you tried to remove it and it broke, that'd be a bad thing for sure.
@FretZealot
4 жыл бұрын
It is indeed a one-time installation, but it's solid as, well, your guitar neck once it's on. We sell individual LED strips so you don't have to buy the entire product again if you want to add it to a new / additional guitar.
I wish they had this for mandolin...
I need a 7 or 8 string version
play a rings of saturn song and bring that thing to a rave
Just gloss right over Trey Xaviors relationshapes!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Why on a majesty mannnnn
Tab says electric guitar clean - Fluff plays max gain

Gamer guitar
this thing plus those finger condoms from aliexpress and you are ready to take the world
I tried it, very cheaply made, one of the led strips broke, and I sent it back to amazon. Also only going to the 12th fret makes no sense.
@Crazyfistish
4 жыл бұрын
Everything above the 12th fret is exactly the same as if continuing from the first. The 13th fret is the same as the 1st fret, 14th fret is the same as the 2nd etc. but I get what you mean, if you're just learning guitar then not having LED strips above the 12th would be very discouraging.
@FretZealot

Really wish you had reached out to us! We would have replaced it. We've had major problems with Amazon putting refurbished inventory back into stock despite us explicitly disallowing that.
Will it work for lefties
@FretZealot
4 жыл бұрын
Yep! Installation is the same. The "spine" of the LED strip will just be on the opposite side.
Not interested as a learning tool, but as a decoration, that looks amazing!
wish it wasn't $200, didn't even spend that on my first guitar wouldn't spend that on something that's probably going to break every 3 months, unless they have fixed the issues with the clear coat peeling off in like a week.
wait a sec.. if u buy fret zealot ... aditional have to pay for each song?? thats crazy ..
I remember seeing this and thinking “Man, imagine if there was a guitar that lit up like this via MIDI so that you could have an accurate map for something YOU wrote.” Funny what music products stick in the memory, and what don’t. Line 6 also put out an idea similar to this, but as a whole-ass and TERRIBLE guitar. Nowadays, seemed this concept as a whole has been quietly retired.
Stay away from the fun slot!!! That's how you end up with a bunny in the pot.
After seeing reviews, I decided to get one. Got about a month ago. Worth the money for sure. Was able to learn a few songs much faster than the old fashioned way. It does everything as advertised. However, I'm currently on chat with Musicians Friend because the A flat line of lights went out along with a few other random ones. Tried everything...different scales...songs...chromatic scales etc...those lights stopped functioning. I'm on chat hold right now with Musician's friend. Explained and he said he's "going to see if there's anything he can do" I hope there is because this is a good tool I wish I had back in 1985. I'll add to this when I get info from Musician's friend.
.......Cool.......
Wait. Am I first? Also, I've missed that intro music.
Just for the led lights alone it would be cool if it wasn't 140 and you had to pay for lessons on top of that

The monthly subscription is $14.99 (less for annual plans) and you get access to everything 👍
If you're a beginner, there's no way on you'd get that device on by yourself. They didn't think this out.
Think I saw this on KYG and Trogliy. Both were crap and broke almost instantly. Not only that, but the residue will ruin your fretboard. I wish he would’ve shown an install at least for his more influenced viewers.
I can see this being useful for a beginner. But I don’t like this idea of having to look at your fretboard. Personally I went through the whole Yousician course and now I can easily play notes from tabs without having to look at the fretboard 🌹
140 bucks ......... Hah
Sending blessings to everyone who subs
The Fret Light came out decades ago, but the LEDS were embedded in the fretboard.
Too expensive for a glorified LED with an app
Yeah this looks crap ngl, even you weren't using the lights when you had the tab open, because tab simply works better 🤷♀️ and it hurts that you put this on such a beautiful guitar 😥

How is a fretlight incredibly expensive? I have seen some of them for 200 dollars. This stick on led thing is 200 dollars.

No hate on this but I don’t think any beginner is gonna be able to buy and guitar and have $200 left over to buy the thing. I think it seems nice but not for the price lol

Have you never heard of the middle or upper class? Also I would imagine a lot of these are going to be bought by parents or people going through a midlife crisis that wanna finally learn how to play that Fender Jazzmaster they bought when they were 20.
This is pretty much using twister to teach guitar.
For the first time in my life I’m happy a company has no love for the bass player....... (Fretzealot, if you are reading this please don’t get any ideas)
Looks like pointless fun. Strobing guitar would look good on stage but probably more of a learning impediment than an aid. If you can't learn licks off of tab then this won't be much help.
Nope
Seems like a money grab
That was not a Harmonic Minor scale, and you even had lights on the fretboard to indicate where the notes are. Plus, you were sliding up to notes as opposed to fretting the notes. Also, everyone should learn songs/riffs by using their ear when starting out. That’s how you develop your ear for notes, pitch, frequencies, etc.
Wow this is the worst way to learn how to play guitar. Talk about focusing on a GRID, and not on MUSIC, NOTES, NOTATION and SOUNDS!!! When I was young, there was a fretboard learning tool: it was called MUSIC SHEETS WITH STANDARD NOTATION!!
What ever happened to learning the old fashioned way? It really makes you a better guitar player then having something tell you what to do. There's no character building. I dunno, I think it's good if you want to learn basics, but after that you need to find your own sound/style.
@FretZealot

Well 90% of new players give up, so there's a problem with the way people are currently learning. Fret Zealot isn't the only way to learn, but it definitely helps keep people interested and more importantly, coming back. The guitar industry needs serious help and we believe Fret Zealot can distinctly help keep players and get new ones. Everybody wins!
Sterling... Get a real one, bro.
not for $199 LOL
