Sounds like you shouldn't review the same crap as everyone else? Maybe go back to what you used to do and find cool gear you want to show off? You're kind of in control of your own channel and all... I can't think of anyone except r/guitar that gives any shits about the Boss Katana. Show off interesting gear.
Another question is at which point do you actually NEED an endorsement. Twice now, I have toyed with the idea of getting an endorsement, but both times, it never seemed important enough to bother actually DOING. As a minimalist, I already have what I NEED, and that is what I tour with. So, at what point do you actually genuinely NEED that endorsement? What criteria do you need to meet to require you to actually NEED more than what you already have? (Genuine question.)

At the end of the day, aside from being an artist, they are people too. People change, needs change, and new things come out all the time. A changing opinion or a changing need does not negate any previous or current statements about the “old” products. People and products evolve. At the end of the day, artists have to stay true to themselves above all else. Just my nickel’s worth of opinion.

I don't disrespect the creators like you for it, you do what you think is best I'm sure. It's got a simple solution, but it's not gonna happen. We get to watch videos of gear as it comes out, tons of info from a lot of different creators for free. Are they biased? Honest? Representative? Real? What they are is free, and that's what you get. Either you make your own, spending your money and your time for other people and making no profit on the video so we can trust it which you are not going to do ever. Or you fully fund somebody you already trust. Either one is not free and not as easy as putting no effort. Creators like fluff are not here to spend their money, time and lives and not get compensated for it, exactly like you wouldn't do so in their shoes.

Like you said, Fluff, at some point you need a change. I remember when I decided that I was tired of playing Boogies after about 10 years and started buying Marshalls 8 and 900s..... then after about 10 years, because I wasn't playing out as much and after weeding down the herd, traded my last Marshall for a Super Reverb.... then decided to buy a Soldano after several years because I needed to scratch that itch. Change is good. I have switched between Duncans, DiMarzios, and EMGs so many times through the years. Not that one was better than the other. Just what fit my needs and taste at the time. Some of the most famous musicians stick with the same products they've used for decades because it works well for them. Many of the hobbyists and younger generations (mostly from the 90s to present) have and like a large variety of gear options and are more into experimenting with a wider array of tones produced by different types of brands and gear. There's no right way I guess but not everyone falls into the opinions here.
@brandonthompson841319 сағат бұрын
Not knocking you for endorsing products, or knocking you whatsoever more so the audience. Use what works for you. The major brands of guitars, pickups, strings, picks, amps, whatever all make great products now and as long as you can get the sounds you want with the gear there is nothing wrong with it.
@paistefever20 сағат бұрын
Great video on this subject. As someone who grew up in the 90s, endorsements were very big deal and based on honesty and on the fact that it was indeed the product that professionals would use for sure. At least for the most part. Classic example, if Mustaine/Friedman used Jacksons and Seymour Duncans in the 90s it meant they REALLY did use those guitars and it was something they genuinely felt like it was helpful for them and they really liked it. And that relationship lasts/lasted for a good amount of time. Same deal with Adrian Smith who switched to Jackson starting Somewhere In Time era and still uses it to this day. Endorsement pretty much meant back then, that you're building relationship with the brand and family kinda feel and you can totally recommend the brand because you yourself love it. Fast forward to modern times where advanced digital technology pretty much changed the entire way how ppl record and perform, endorsement these days (for the most part) become like a "free stuff for some time and I will also get some exposure". Great example regarding ppl's taste changing, Jim Root in the recent years mentioned that he'd like a passive-style feeling on some of his guitars and instead of leaving EMGs, he started using Retro Active series on some of his guitars. I can def see how real is this relationship between Jim Root/Fender/EMG really is.
