Learn Kung Fu - 3 Section Staff - Walking Propeller Spin
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Learn Kung Fu - 3 Section Staff:
In this video we build on the 3 section staff propeller spin we covered in a previous tutorial. Walking may not seem like much of challenge when you watch it, but it is an excellent challenge of balance and timing. This is a very common element in the Choy Li Fut kung fu 3 section staff form so be sure to practice and master it!
Go grab your three section staff and put in the work!!!

I have drafted some plans to create a three section staff module for my online weapons program, I will be releasing a few weapons in the meantime so it won't be out until sometime in 2023
Sifu why don't make a proper training for choy li fut kungfu over Pateron. I mean level wise or belt wise from beginner to advanced level. so that people can learn choy li fut kungfu properly.
Very clear instruction, and solid footwork. May i ask what the intended application for this is? I've been playing around with a 3-section staff against a spear, but i'm not sure what my strategy is supposed to be.

For the propeller spin itself, there are really two main training applications: 1) Develop wrist, grip, and arm strength. 2) Develop familiarity with the movement of the weapon, control it so you won't hurt yourself When you add walking it adds more training applications: 1) Correct angle of the spin (so you don't hit yourself) 2) Coordination of the entire body during a dynamic action where the hands and feet are doing completely different things I would consider martial application to be a secondary goal, constant spinning is not a very good tactic. However, if you can control the spin (familiarity), you can regain control after striking something when the staff goes wild. You can also look at either single circles or semi-circles for realistic application. A single circle is useful for swatting an oncoming attack with the section, or can trap a weapon in you aim with the chain (that puts the opponent's weapon really close you your hand, so be careful). Semi circles can be used for quick whip strikes to opponents (aim for wrists, shins, knees, considering they're armed). Hope that helps!

@@SifuKuttel Fantastic advice honestly. Good notice of realism while cautioning how close my hand will be during a trap. I think you would have a lot of fun comparing and contrasting techniques with a knowledgeable HEMA practitioner. Either way though, your videos are already great. Thank you so much for your response.

@@kylepowell9944 Thanks! I would really enjoy working with the HEMA community. I'm always excited when I see movements and techniques that are exactly the same in both Eastern and Western arts, and it's fascinating to hear about the fighting theory. Plus it would be nice to get a new perspective on what I have to offer from my training.
