Learn how to make a plant PROPAGATION BOX | AMAZING root growth! | TIPS and TRICKS!

In this video learn how to make a plant propagation box if you're wanting to learn how to make one or if you're having problems with yours. I go over some important tips and tricks and how I have success with mine and have amazing root growth! I've had this propagation box since earlier this year and I have had really good success with mine.
Some key points to remember:
1. Make sure the moss isn't too damp! Often times if you're finding mold or rot it is because the moss was staying too wet. My advice it to wring out all the excess water until most of it drips out.
2. Another key point is LIGHT. A plant propagation box needs a lot of bright light in order for it to work. The light needs to hit the box so that it can produce condensation and make the humidity high. I recommend a south window or west window.
3. The plastic box also needs to be clear on all side and on the top. If it's not clear or see through then the cuttings inside won't get enough light to root and the moss will stay too wet and you will notice rot.
4. Make sure to check on it if you're just starting out about once a week. You shouldn't notice any mold or rot. If you do then I suggest you make sure the moss isn't too wet and it may need to get more light. I have to rewet my moss about once a month depending on how much light it gets. The more light the box receives then the more it will dry out the moss.

Love this! I am making it a goal to get a bunch of cuttings and propagate next year as much as I can so this is super helpful! I was also questioning moss, so this helped me decide to just buy some. 😂

What do you think of getting monstera cuts in moss

Hello Melissa! Your prop box is lovely and very inspiring! You said that you've had some of your cuttings in for a "long time" or "for a while". How long is "a long time" or "a while"? Thanks so much for sharing with us! 🙂

Hi thank you!! lol I have had some in there since fall 🙈🙈🙈 they are so rooted but I have been delaying potting some up for awhile. Some cuttings root fast like a few weeks depending on the plant but I honestly need to get stuff out of there. Thank you for watching!! 🥰😆

@@plantsbymelissa Thanks for your reply, Melissa!😊 If it’s okay, May I ask specifically about the Cebu Blue and the Scindapsus cuttings? I tried propping both of them in water and Sphagnum Moss and I got no results; no roots. Not sure why, though. Thanks, again!🪴

What size prop box is that?

Can you use a smaller prop box? Will the size make any difference? I'm just starting my house plant journey and I don't wanna go all ham at first. Thanks in advance!

you can! 😁 You can even use a small container for individual ones as well but just make sure it gets a good amount of light! Sometimes I open it to check on them but I find they do really well in a prop box!

Hey there! I’m propping a bunch of babies… but also want to keep my little monstera (rooted in water) in the box with them because it’s precious to me and I’m leaving town for 6 weeks….. do you think it’d be ok in there? My son isn’t very dependable w the prop box 🤓🤓🤓🤓

Hey there! That’s hard to say! 6 weeks is awhile to not check on them. I always like to say if it’s happy in one medium, I would let it stay in that unless you just want to experiment with different cuttings. If this one means a lot to you I would see maybe if someone can watch it while your gone and add more water if it gets low. That way your not chancing something happening to it while your gone especially if you’re just making the prop box. I always like to keep an eye on it every so often to make sure the moss isn’t drying out but I would try and make sure the prop box is working ok for you and that you feel confident leaving it for that long too. 💚💚💚

I get it off Amazon! I have some linked in my Amazon storefront if you’re interested! And the water I just use tap water and mix in a couple drops of superthrive. Since most of these guys had a ton of roots I just used my liquidirt water. But I just make sure to wring most of it out! ☺️
