Wow that begonia looks beautiful! She’s just in water? How often do you change it and do you fertilize?
Thank you so much for this video. I just got my first adonsonii albo, it wasn’t in the best condition, but your video was the most informative and helped me a lot!🤎🌱
I've noticed I get more rot when my humidity falls lower than 49
I just use neem oil lemon dish soup mix with water to treat mealybugs. I think this happens when soil is contaminated so i tend to repot my plants that i buy from nursery garden centres and online plants too. Also overcrowded plants and no airflow and over fertiliser can get them too. To prevent getting them i use preventative every month also i clean the leaves every time i water my plants.
Loved that outro 😂 Byeeeee 👋🏼👋🏼👋🏼
Thank you for sharing.
The Pink Black Velvet is gorgeous 😀🇨🇦
Hi Melissa. Have you had any experience transferring alocasia dragon scale into pon? Thank you for all of your content!
Hi Melissa love your videos your plants 🪴 are so beautiful.
Begonia in water? Won't the roots rot? 😮
Hi Melissa, I love this video! Thank you for sharing! That black velvet alocasia is so cute❤. I also love the variegated maranta. I put my frydek and maranta in pon. Do you water the pon weekly as well? Or just wait for the level to go down? ThankYou. ❤
❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you Melissa for the great video! Hope you have a blessed day🕊🕊✨✨🪽🤗🤗💚💚
If you ever start selling alocasia black velvet pink variegated corms I would totally love one! Buy it of course :)
I have a Variegated Maranta and i love it.
Yes I love these too! Thanks for sharing. 🪴✨
That Alocasia is beautiful! 🖤
Loved this video, always so inspirational, and relaxing. That Polyneura, wow! I can't wait till it grows, and you put up some cuttings up for sale. Also, the green one and the begonia polka dot. All your plants are beautiful. ❤
Hey Melissa, I so love watching you potting up new plants... It is so relaxing. Also, you really got me into plants, you literally saved my first (and at that point) only Alocasia <3 Thank you, I always come back to your videos searching for advice and tips. And goodness I can't control myself buying Alocasias and corms to see little babyplants come to life and watch them grow big. So I just wanted to let you know, that your videos really have an impact and you did inspire this girl on the other side of the globe 🥰 So keep up buying more plants so you can make more cosy pot up videos for us to watch and then buy more plants. You literally make the world a greener place 💚 The warmest greeetings from Germany Love your content! Damaris
Hi Melissa from New Zealand 😊 so glad your using tree fern fibre, I use it for everything. It's my go to for propagation for everything, you should give it a try, especially hoya ❤
Where are the plastic hanging containers from?
We need an update on this!
Hello we feel pleasure when seeing response from your side.. greetings
🌿💚🌿
I am hoping I will be able to have a polyneura someday. I have given up on alocasias though. I'll just enjoy my other plants. I'm happy to have my beautiful calathea medallion. I think it might be my absolute favorite plant. I had to repot it not long ago but it didn't seem to notice. It is growing new leaves 😊
Is that the alocasia the plant you unboxed from the green escape a few weeks ago? If so, you're a magician when it comes to alocasia!
No, I bought this from rare plant fairy probably 2-3 months ago now 🫶🏻
@@plantsbymelissa Oh ok. Wasn't sure where you got it, but knew it wasn't long ago. It's doing fantastic in your care!
Those pings made me want pings!!! They are sooo CUTE!!!🤩😍
I love how we all panic with pests. I saw signs of spider mites and went into overdrive. Pretty sure my milsbo got drowned in alcohol from the wipe down. 😅
How many “I’m going to go ahead” is in this video
I wasn’t counting but feel free to enlighten us 🫶🏻
Where did you buy your clear pots? I bought some on amazon but mines are a bit less sturdy yours look better quality and I like the side drainage
They’re from Amazon! I have a few different brands I use. Some are the repot me brand and another is homenote 💚 www.amazon.com/shop/plantsbymelissa/list/2Q7LRSOZIGHH7?ref_=aip_sf_list_spv_ofs_mixed_m
When you rinse your pon, do you let it dry before stashing it away in your plastic tub?
Yes! I try to. I usually leave the lid off and mix it up several times until it dries 😁
❤
That pink varigated black velvet is #1 on my wishlist.
I just put a plant into stratum today for the first time. I thought I heard to rinse the stratum first so I did that but it didn’t seem like the water was every going to go clear so i put the plants in after a few rinses. 🤷🏼♀️ I’m not sure if that was correct?
No need to rinse 😁 use it straight out of the bag or a container if you store it that way. Rinsing it does nothing and it just turns to mush. It’s not dusty like pon.
That Hoya is beautiful 😍 and the black velvet pink variegated is to die for! 🥰
🫶🏻🫶🏻
Omg so stinkin cute! 💚💚
Just wondering why you don’t put the hoyas in pon? Those plants are all gorgeous!
They do so well for me in soil so I haven’t explored pon for Hoyas. I hear they like it too but I guess I just prefer my mix for them 😁
I recently bought a single node (2leaf) cutting of an outer variegated polyneura, but the vine it shot out and the 2 small leaves (not the original leaves, but the 2 that grew in after I had it for a couple weeks) both died off and hasn't done anything else in the couple of weeks since then.. It's rooting in perlite, which is how it came to me, so I'm not sure if I should be moving it to a chunky mix or semi-hydro 😅 I'm so terrified to kill it 😢
Oh no I’m sorry! Maybe just adjusting to your space. Do you water in any nutrients with the perlite? I would be tempted to move to stratum if you can get some or have it. Hoyas seem to love it and it has nutrients already. I swear all my Hoya props root like crazy in it then I move them out. I hope it grows for you here soon!!
@@plantsbymelissa yes I've used highly diluted feed for it! Stratum is sooo pricey in canada, not easy to find here except online! I'll have to look around and see if I can find any cheaper places to order from! Yours all look so beautiful, I definitely want to try it! 🥰
Pink Black Velvet is one of my top wishlist plants but the cheapest I've seen in canada is like $600 for a small plant or $300 for a corm 😂😂😂 absolutely notttt something I'll be splurging on until the prices come down a lot 😅 they're SO stunning 🩷🖤
Whoa! That’s so expensive there! 🥲 I’ve seen them mostly $300+ here for a plant but some lower variegation can be less.
Top wishlist plant for me top! So gorgeous ! They go for around 500$ here in norway! Another wishlist is varigated dragon scale ❤
Too * not top 😅
Hi Melissa, I may have said this already ☺ but if you want to beat mealies once and for all, white oil or horticultural oil is the way to go. My hoyas were ridden with mealies, it's like it happened so quickly. I used white oil, making sure that every little bit of the plant was covered in it, then sprayed again in a fortnight and GOODBYE mealies!! The business of using alcohol doesn't seem to work. Love your videos, Melissa.
Hi Melissa, love your videos and want to say you are so inspiring, I've gotten so much plant work since discovering your channel! 🥰 Oh I have to say this but when you mentioned your age, my jaw dropped, you look no older than 24! On another note, how much water do you add to pon and stratum?
Thank you! That is so kind of you 🙏🏼 I usually fill stratum up to the top but that’s because it dries out quickly is my space. For pon it depends but I recently made an entire video dedicated to my pon care and answered a lot of questions there 💚
Isn't it interesting how plants LooK so much better after they've been re-potted and matched with the perfect pot? I swear they know they've been fussed with and loved. Melissa, I know your aroid mix is deeeeluxe but have you already told us why you don't put your hoyas in pon? Thanks.
No reason other than they do well in soil for me. I branched out with pon because of my alocasias and realized how much they love it and I decided to try some other plants out in it. If I struggle with them in soil I’ll try pon but Hoyas seem to be really easy care for me (probably because I neglect them haha).
Potting up plants is always so relaxing. Unless a moss pole is involved
😂 It’s all about being patient and diligent at the same time!
😂😂
my new guinea ghost is in moss and it is allllllllways thirsty! I think one of my thirstiest hoyas for sure!
Omggg I tried that topo Chico today! It was amazing! When I used to bartend, I’d put house-made, fresh blueberry purée/syrup for cocktails with the regular topo Chico all the time! ❤
It’s so good!! I need to go back and see if there’s other flavors now haha
@@plantsbymelissa oh girl there is! I believe I saw like 3 or 4 at least.
No! No trellis for the polyneura. It would look weird. It’s a trailing plant
Love this pot up, my favorite, so relaxing, love your passion for your plants and how you so lovingly care for each one. Thankyou, Char,
Thank you so much! 🥹💜
You sound like a wood pecker when you tap down the pon in the pot in fast motion.
I go crazy every time I see them
I have a fear of mushrooms
Ill probably end up regretting saying what’s on my mind but… Am I the only one who thinks pon is overrated and ugly? 😅 idk I just do not love it, my family calls it fish tank gravel. Lol. I just hate the aesthetic of it and it’s so expensive too.. but that’s just my personal opinion. I have some in it and meh. That frydek however is BEAUTIFUL ❤ 🤩
Nothing wrong with that at all, we’re all different and have our own preferences :) I find the aesthetic really nice actually and I love how the plants look in it and not to mention they are growing well in it. I love a good aroid mix too but it can add up with all the different substrates I have to buy to make a good DIY that I prefer and it can be more challenging for me to keep up with watering in my environment 😁
