I thought Dutch would be easier to learn than German. The vocabulary is somehow easier but the accent is harder. Challenge accepted.

+MsMinoula Yeah when I was in the Netherlands I found signs easy to read because I had studied German. Knowing English didnt seem to help with that. I suspect German is easier than Dutch. The Dutch pronounciations take more work than German ones anyway.

***** thanks for the tip but I live in the northern of the Netherlands at the moment and I do have the feeling I'll be mocked to death if I do that :P And up to now two things have happened: 1) People don;t understand what I say because my pronunciation is inaccurate and 2) They are surprised I sounded original and compliment me on my accent. There is no in between in Dutch apparenty

Rodrigo Neira Yeah, we Dutch people are pretty good at English, considering I got English lessons when I was like 6. I mostly learned spelling and grammar from writing English comments and by the comment sections on KZread video's. The main problem is I barrely speak English so it's hard for me to pronounce some sentences, though I think if you speak English regulary you'll learn it down the road. If I've misspelled some stuff please tell me. :)
im learning now since i found ur channel thank you so much marleen my boyfriend is full dutch and im welsh but i learning for him and to meet him and soon be living with him :')

Thank you Dutch people for not forcing us, expats and tourists to learn Dutch on first place, so we could do it as we go, calmly! It is precious :)
It's so similar to German. (German mother tongue here). I love it :D Sounds so funny^^.
Perfect
Cool madam.... Nice introduction... want to learn more
While i can easily read dutch, and somewhat understand it, speaking is pretty hard for me as a German. Best example is aangenaam... Since it is so similar to the german Angenehm, which is even used in the same context, i tempt to say aangenaam like [an-ge-nahm] instead of [an-che-nahm] But i guess it will come with practice.
My bf is Dutch and some of my besties. Learning it for them!

wouild like to receive some questions in my e-mai from nederlands people, is it possible, Marleen ?
You are the most Dutch looking person I've ever seen
Dunkuwel! It helped a lot! Surprisingly it did take 3 minutes insane!!! Hallo, ik heet blake!
Be in Amsterdam this time next week
I think a bit slower, especially on the difficult and unusual words, will help more. This point is important as you are in a competition. You know what i mean?
While technically correct the phrases used are unusual and a bit awkward to use. 'Ik heet' is what a child might say, but 'ik ben' (I am) is much more common. It is even more common to just say your name when shaking hands. The phrase 'Leuk je te ontmoeten' can just be omitted. 'Aangenaam' or 'Aangenaam kennis te maken' may be added in a formal situation.

Deze zinnen zijn letterlijk vertaald uit het Engels, maar eigenlijk niet zo Nederlands. Ik ben het met je eens, maar Nederlanders kopiëren de Angelsaksen in bijna alles, dus deze kennismakingsfrasen klinken vrij natuurlijk.
Great but u speak so fast. Remember we are just in 101 course
