This week is a very simple topic, but one of huge importance. 👉 Learning by Listening!
Talking to people is a fundamental part of our job, but how many of us are good at listening and actually learning while listening?
To be a good listener, there are things to do and not do. 👇
🔸 Don't give directions to someone unless they ask. Listening for 5 minutes and then telling them what they should do is not the answer. Make sure they want direction before you just give it out.
🔸 Pay attention! Don't work on the answer while they are talking, you will likely miss the point they are trying to get out.
🔸 Try to see what their needs are, all while listening and taking notes in your head.
🔸 Do not jump to conclusions, listen , evaluate what they are saying.
🔸 Be objective - The other person is likely talking with you because they trust you, but start listening with a clean sheet of paper.
🔸Ask open ended questions to gain more feedback and understanding.
What you think only matters if that is what the other person was looking for in the discussion.
Simply, learn by Listening!
