I still love the version of Rachelle Ann go though Rachelle belt out some of the high notes thinly but she can still belt it out thickly, I don't like the enunciation of lea salonga here too much stresses and emphasis!!!

Excellent observation. I'm a great admirer of Linda Ronstadt and she was quite adept at this as well, especially, following her experience singing as Mabel in Gilbert and Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance.

@@DigitalChannel well if you try to spend lots of times to be really really close to the notes(chords scales) and the rythems. Then you can start to feel little bit of something moving from your inside which is the fundamental of improvisation. The more mistakes you make The more sensible jazz player you could be I think. Thanks to read this. (Hope you can understand what i am tryting to explain. 😅) but there's no point of doing those if you cant enjoy them.(includ mistakes^^::)

Lea's mouth-shape is textbook whenever she's singing. She's like "gurl don't be afraid, just open your mouth as big as you can" and dang! That space makes the sound so resonant and those vibrato are so free to just vibrate as much as they can❤

The diction, the vocal clarity, the musicality...the theatrics are flawless. To think she is doing this in her living room speaks to her ability to get into the song in a way few others can. I have loved her singing for a long time and this is still a revelation. That pounding you hear is her upstairs neighbors trying to get to sleep. Bravissimo!

Sorry, I’ve seen Wicked many times on Broadway and twice on the West End, and I can name at least 10 actresses who could perform this way better than Idina, who simply screams all the high notes in this song using her very Daisy-Duck squeaky voice. One of the worst ever.

I mean if you take the part into consideration, Elphaba is supposed to be much younger, and Lea’s voice has matured and deepened quite a bit, which isn’t bad, but like for higher pitch songs like this, it’s not ideal. I personally really like Lea Michelle’s cover of this song. She can go higher with the notes and have a better tone for it...just my opinion, but this was a very good cover, the high notes just didn’t do it for me🤷🏻♀️

Best cover, indeed! A very beautiful voice, a healthy, smooth chest-headtone mix, and more importantly, no screaming! I have heard many versions of this song and most singers either just scream the high notes or have annoyingly squeaky or poor quality vocals (beginning with the very horrible Idina Menzel).

When I was in grade school, my parents had Lea Salonga's cassette tapes haha. The first OPM songs I heard were from her 3rd album. My favorites were The Journey and Lessons of Love, and when I was raising my niece I sang The Journey for her as a lullaby for years. :)

She’s one of a few people who can do a very smooth (and pleasant-sounding) chest voice/head tone mix. And the quality of her voice is just staggering. Wow.

@@DigitalChannel well if you try to spend lots of times to be really really close to the notes(chords scales) and the rythems. Then you can start to feel little bit of something moving from your inside which is the fundamental of improvisation. The more mistakes you make The more sensible jazz player you could be I think. Thanks to read this. (Hope you can understand what i am tryting to explain. 😅) but there's no point of doing those if you cant enjoy them.(includ mistakes^^::)

The diction, the vocal clarity, the musicality...the theatrics are flawless. To think she is doing this in her living room speaks to her ability to get into the song in a way few others can. I have loved her singing for a long time and this is still a revelation. That pounding you hear is her upstairs neighbors trying to get to sleep. Bravissimo!

I mean if you take the part into consideration, Elphaba is supposed to be much younger, and Lea’s voice has matured and deepened quite a bit, which isn’t bad, but like for higher pitch songs like this, it’s not ideal. I personally really like Lea Michelle’s cover of this song. She can go higher with the notes and have a better tone for it...just my opinion, but this was a very good cover, the high notes just didn’t do it for me🤷🏻♀️

Best cover, indeed! A very beautiful voice, a healthy, smooth chest-headtone mix, and more importantly, no screaming! I have heard many versions of this song and most singers either just scream the high notes or have annoyingly squeaky or poor quality vocals (beginning with the very horrible Idina Menzel).
