Good demo and explanation, very grateful Going to put this ?out there Why not take load off the engine by changing axle ratios to compensate for larger wheels, towing loads etc? it puts load onto axle, fuel economy is better to👍 Diesels are supposed to be more economical right? What about overall cost of ownership? 🤔 Keep up the great work and above all that have fun 🍻

Thanks Mark, glad the video was helpful. I have thought about this, however at this time I don't think the expense of regarding would provide an equivalent benefit in return. Although it may help a bit, the vehicle is by no means struggling with the current load, even when towing. If in the future I were to increase the tyre size again and tow very heavy loads, it could be viable. At the moment, the vehicle is performing well and I've never been in the situation where I've needed more power or torque. Cheers, Nathan.

I have the HPD catch can on my BT50. I went for it for the quality of build, mounting and clarity of instruction for fitment. In 10000Ks, I will get maybe a teaspoon of gunk in the bottom probably due to a tighter engine. I have placed a stainless dish scourer in the bottom, to try cause more condensation though that wouldnt work in yours, as it would be drowned.. :) There shouldnt be and need for pressure relief in the HPD can, as the inlet and outlet pipes are huge and are unlikely to get blocked. I did some research, and bypassed the Provent, mainly because of the plastic build.

Thanks mate. Interesting mod with the dish scourer, hadn't thought of adding that to a unit like this. There is no doubt the build quality is 2nd to none, just doesn't quite seem as it is effective as it could be. Thanks for the watch. Cheers, Nathan.

Thanks mate. I'm not personally familiar with that engine, however if it is a Diesel engine and has a close crankcase ventilation system, then yes a catch can will work well. Do you know what engine you are running in that vehicle?

  • @jimmyjones2426

So given the fact it's a petrol, this engine wouldn't require one of these catch cans. These systems are generally designed for diesel engines as a result of blow by gasses passing the piston rings. Petrols don't really have these issues and hence don't require one. Cheers, Nathan.

i bought a set (catch can + pre filter) for 79 series from western filters before I got the vehicle, the first thing when I picked up my 79 is to install catch can and fuel filter, before anything else. now it just hit 9000k and i got about half of a 600ml bottle of the black oil. worked like a charm
