Despite the low ratings, this is one of my favorite post-apoc movies. It is one of the few that actually sees some kind of return to normal society and it is fun.

Fuck this was such a good movie. Don't care what anyone says about it, I have always loved it

I really like the lore and the setting. It has some really good moments, but then it sort of screws up here and there. I'd be down for a TV series set in that world.

I've seen countless movies since I was a kid but this was one of the few that always stuck with me. Waterworld as well. It makes me sad to see such low ratings for a movie I thought was really fun.

"Does any man here wish to challenge me?" Dude hanging from his feet should've said "ME!" hahaha. Best case scenario, he would've gotten cut down and at least had a fair fight. Worst case scenario? The exact same thing happens to him in the film anyway haha.

If I remember correctly, Kevin Costner and company were only recruits, so the dude hanging upside down couldn’t challenge. They had to be branded with the 8 before any of them could do that. I guess it depended on if the General felt he needed to assert his authority.

This scene perfectly showcases the intensity and frightening reality that was the Army of Nathan Holn, and the character of General Bethlehem's (Will Patton) twisted morals and insanity. This movie is most definitely an underrated masterwork.

This is one of my favorite movies. The tv series Revolution references the idea of clan warfare and American rebels. At first I wasn't sure if the writers were intentionally using the idea from The Postman, but then later in the series the main character Miles calls some guy Shakespeare like the General lol. Pretty obvious at that point they loved this movie, too.

That was a catch-22. He made sure there weren't enough "chairs" to make a point. If the man had sat down on the ground, rationalising that the General hadn't specified chairs, he would have killed him anyway for not sitting down on a chair. The point was that He was the man in charge, and he was the epitome of the Laws of Eight. He dictated justice. He defeated reason with terror. He would specify what allegiance to the Clan meant. He would punish swiftly and mercilessly. If any man wished to lead the Clan, he was the man they would have to challenge, and up to that point he had never been defeated and only challenged once.

Live and let Live.

Not a bad movie, excellent villain helped. Nothing like the book, which I enjoyed, then lost some years ago.

I love this movie they just cant make em like they used to.

You really should clean your blade before putting back into its scabbard. It is easier to clean the blade than trying to get all the dried up gunk from inside it.

Reading your comment reminded me of a documentary I once saw about Jack Renton, a sailor who was enslaved in the Solomon Islands. The local tribes engaged in biological warfare by decomposing bodies in canoes and using the human sludge to coat their arrowheads. It was so potent that a small scratch would cause a massive infection and kill you. Maybe Will Patton was going for something similar with his scabbard.

People knock this movie, yet Jumanji has been a box office hit 4 weeks in a row.

The pattern of blood dripping on Bethlehem's face after he executes the guy with the sword doesn't make sense...there wouldn't be one horizontal line with multiple verticle lines dripping down from it, there would just be a bunch of vertical lines.

I actually like this movie. Its, in my opinion, one of those not terrible-not great movies. Same thing with Waterworld; would I pay $50 for this movie on Blu-Ray? No. But if it was only $5, yeah I would buy it
