New to channel, love the content. When you reference the grind setting, don’t you need to also have to note the internal burr setting? This way we know the true reference. By the way, had our 1st gen BE for 7 years and probably pulled Over 7000 shots. Was having mechanical issues and decided to retire the machine vs repair. Bought the same machine versus going up to the Dual Boiler or the automatic features of the Touch or Pro. Having the burr adjustment made the gen 2nworth rebuying.

When I bought this machine it surprised me with just one/two cups button. Previously I've used delonghi magnifica S, and it had four buttons one/two espresso and one/two cups of coffee. So I didnt know how to set up amount of coffee for just normal coffee at breville/sage coffee machines but it appeared to push and hold on one coffee button for a few seconds and it gives me amount of water for normal coffee, it can be changed and adjusted in settings.. generally it's a very good coffee machine and gives lots of options breville/sage. The only thing is in the morning it takes more time to make coffee on manual than on full automatic machine.. but it gives more fun

Hi - thanks for the video. I've been using Crema e Aroma for a while, but even with an 18g grind (level 1 on my machine) a 36g shot is dispensed (with high- but not too-high pressure on the gauge) in about 18 seconds after pre-infusion. I'm guessing to get a 30+s time on the double shot I'd need an even finer grind. I'm wondering, can you confirm how you have the grinder set? I know that the video is two years old now, so maybe you've forgotten how it was set back then, but any help you can give would be very welcome. Thanks!

How did you get your 18g of beans to completely empty into the burr grinder? When I use the bean hopper on my Breville Barista, when I get to about 1/4 left of my Lavazza beans, I always have to jiggle the plastic tub or use my fingers to move the beans into the bean drop channel opening, otherwise my burr grinders just spins without more beans dropping into the grinder, and then stops?

It is true that local roasters can produce great coffee, however it quite expensive and often inconsistent. If you want a consistent flavour you can't go wrong with Lavazza. Normally, coffee loses fresheness within a month of roasting. However, Lavazza uses a technique called Nitrogen Flushing before bagging their coffee, which gives it a much longer shelf life.

Generally speaking vacuum is useful for dry goods; but, generally the idea of keeping freshness is removing oxygen and other reactive gases. Hi Hoon, I need your help. I'm currently having trouble pulling shots from this particular bag of beans you're pulling in this video. I'm using Barista Pro BES878. Not the same model as yours without the gauge but with a LCD. Anyway no matter what grind size I dial: Finer or Coarser. It still gets very rapid shots around 15 seconds mark. It begins with the pre-infusion and starts pouring at 6-7 seconds and stops at 14-15 seconds. Total seconds: 8 seconds which means the shot is under extracted. Coffee was sour! I can't get the coffee to taste bitter even if I dial it all the way to 30 and it still tasted sour with a fast pour! I can never get past 25-30 seconds no matter what settings I tried. What should I do to fix it? I even warm up the portafilter and the machine but the machine has an auto shut down feature in 30 minutes if no one is using. The point is with the unit on for that long, the group head still wasn't hot or warm enough...

If I dialed in just right I get around 21 secs when first drop hits. I assume you're using a non-pressurized basket. Try with pressurized basket and see what happens. Make sure grinder setting at mid point. With pressurized basket you get right pressurized every time.

I forgot to mention that I have a 6 years super automatic espresso machine by Krups and just a few minutes ago I used the same beans in that machine. It was surprisingly drinkable but not tasty. It balanced out the sourness and bitterness. With the brand new Breville machine, all I taste was super acidic sourness! It’s undrinkable. I will contact Breville tomorrow if there’s anything they can do to remedy it. I subscribed to your channel a week ago. You seem to be quite legit about espresso! Keep up the great work!

If not then you're out of luck, could be the grinder or the quality of the beans. I used to have a similar issue where I would have to go to the finest setting on the top burr and finest setting on the dial before I could get what I would want, I figured out that it was because I was using old supermarket bean. I get my beans from a local roaster and they have special chocolate and caramels you can add that don't have wax in it. There are also some blueberry and orange coffee drinks you can make with fresh fruit. I finally ordered that leveler your using except the one I got has an adjustable tamperer on the other side. Hoping that will help in getting the right tamping pressure as well, I'm so inconsistent in that step. I also started keeping the beans out of the hopper and like you, just measure out what I need. I believe the beans last a little longer in a sealed container and thats a BIG PLUS when buying fresh from a roaster. Buddy Heidemann these are not flavoured beans. All the flavours come naturally form the roasting process. But gotta agree with you that fresh beans form a local roaster are hard to beat. I still like Lavazza and other store bought coffee.

Grind setting 8; dial ~ you should come close to max or max if you're pre-weighing beans.

Try 1. If doesn't work you need to adjust internal burr. This is video kzread.info/dash/bejne/hpxktJVvqbiWc5M.html
