    Thanks for sharing! I just recently got a breville myself and have been having fun starting to make espresso for the first time. I think the drink you made is called a long black, since you added the espresso to hot water, where an americano is adding hot water to espresso - something I learned very recently and figured I'd share. Again, thanks for sharing your dialing in process for the lavazza super crema, going to try this tomorrow!

    @@HoonsCoffee I've pulled a few good shots from it so far - I have a breville duo temp pro, using about 15.5 dose (I did see it reccomended 14.5g on the bag). Not sure exactly what the right dose is, and it seems like my 54mm portafilter can barely hold 16g, may need to work on my leveling/tamping? (I also have the same leveling tool you have too), I don't usually tamp though - the level seems to add enough pressure. I'll pull a few more shots throughout the week and let you know what I find gives me a nice double shot! Best, EJ

    question, for me I fill the portafilter with a L, espresso (Lavazza) bean, I grind enough from the barista to fill the portafilter to the top then level it off with the razor tool as I want to not trust my fingers for level, I tamp it but then when I check with the razor tool it is lower than the razor by a fair amount not extremely lower but not that close either. do I need to add more coffee and tamp a second time? just not sure why the level is lower than the razor tool recommends after I fill to the rim.

  • @j.l.5966

    @j.l.5966

    4 жыл бұрын

    philip lubduck the razor tool is for checking the level after the tamp. Tamping compresses the grounds, expelling most of the air, which is why the level is lower after the tamp. So in your case, use more beans.

    Hi Hoon quick question on Super Crema coffee I am using Barista express also and grind at size 7 with 18gms double shot and it tastes good. But the bag says double shot should be about 14.5 gms for a double shot. When I try 14.5 gms I can’t create such a good espresso and have to increase ground size to like 13. Why would Lavazza give that number and should it be used in barista express?
