I cried when I heard of this beautiful lady's passing. Been a fan from day one. And stay am!!!

Ah.What I have been after for ages, the original "extended version". I am British and remember buying on 12 inch vinyl back in 1983. In my opinion, her best song by a country mile, and some. The vocal is something else and what a stunning looking woman. I was so shocked to hear of her early demise. RIP and your music lives on.

She certainly was, and now truly is an angel. As the song says, "They must have one hell of a band in heaven!!'

Laura Ann Branigan (July 3, 1952- August 26, 2004, She died at her home in 2004 from a previously-un-diagnosed cerebral aneurysm.She was an American singer, songwriter, and actress. Her signature song, the platinum-certified 1982 single "Gloria," stayed on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 for 36 weeks, then a record for a female artist, peaking at number two. It also reached number one in Australia and Canada. In 1984, she reached number one in Canada and Germany with the U.S. number four hit "Self Control"

It was the spring of '83...my girfriend and i were going through a rough patch (my fault) and THAT SONG reminded me how lucky i was to have someone who really loved me...we went on to later get married,have a beautiful daughter...we later weathered some storms that seperated us but we were finding our way back together again this past summer when she passed (generalised cancer) on september 26th at 44,just like Laura...France,Laura,may you both rest in peace...

I remember when my parents used to play this song when I was only 3-4 years old. At about 2:06 I would get really excited and got up off the couch because I new what was coming! and by 2:27 my face would begin to turn red as I sang (screamed) out the song sometimes to tears as Laura's Awesome Powerful Voice Even at that young age just blew me away!! and still does to this day! I was a kid who really loved music! I feel really sorry for kids today with all the trash that they produce now!

what a wonderful alto voice, with 4 octaves!! It was 1983 and I was a Junior in High School and I remember this song. So rich so, powerful and what a great loss that she left us Branigan died at her home on Long Island, New York, on August 26, 2004. Her death was attributed to a previously undiagnosed brain aneurysm. I miss her so much! Her music was a part of my teen years

Such a lovely singer, song, (and person!), Laura Branigan was one who gave us so much of herself in so many ways! So very missed after such a short time in this world...look forward to seeing her on a higher plane!!!

Man, what a lovely woman with a rich voice. Miss you, Laura. RIP. I remember this song from the spring of '83, a freshman in high school. No girlfriend then, but I remember how hopeful and positive I felt about the future. Its now 2011, and I'm disgusted by the present and dread the future. @DestroyerofSouls666 - You are Right on the money. I could not have said it any better. In the spring of 1983, I was just finishing 6th grade, excited and nervous about going on to Jr. High School. I looked forward to the future and to being an adult and having a family. Now, in 2011, I am disgusted (and scared) by the present and I dread the future, completely alone in life. Brilliantly said. If u'r a man, and you don't have money, like me, .. well, the future holds only alone-ness.
