At the point during which he sang this song .. well, it was just so shocking because for years he had been the super hot guy from outsiders the older brother who everybody loved and respected !!! and then suddenly he was also singing!! And he was good ! Yet still himself !!! There was no talk about it before ; it was just here’s this amazing movie where half of America is going to fall in love with him again and btw ‘ oh yeah he is singing .’ Amazing talent !

His being the bad boy that the girls all wanted was the only thing that kept the guy from being one of everyone's favorites. If Hollywood had shown him for what he was really about in life he might have lost a few females (doubtful but possibly) but he would've picked up so many more male fans. 90% of men are haters though and I don't see that changing for the better anytime in the near future. Otherwise we'd all been fans of his. If the men who spoke badly about him would have had a peak into his legitimate character the hate would have waned and he would have had the respect of a huge majority of the male consumers of the Big Screen too.

Hang on, nearly 40 years?! This song was on Dirty Dancing, which came out in 87, the year I was born. That was NOT nearly 40 years ago. People keep insisting it's right but it doesn't sound right to me, it's been about 25 years at most 😅 anyway, I'm still only 36 in this alternate reality so got a little way to go til 40 but it still doesn't sound right. It's gone WAY too quickly.

I didn't know this was about his wife good song i used to listen to this with my mom and she loved having me there and i learned how to like other kinds of music and till this day i hear this song and suddenly I'm smiling back with my mom
