I remember watching her IG channel during the pandemic. She only had a modest number of followers back then, but you knew she was destined for a great career. I remember during Christmas 2020 she had a little holiday concert at her computer, singing Christmas songs with Junia joining in on violin. Man, she's come a long way!

I suggest you listen to her Bewitched Album, Everything I Know About Love Album, and Typical of Me Album, in their respective order (left to right). Her Bewitched album is a GREAT introduction to her music, while the other albums are when you go deeper into laufey's songs, at least in my opinion.

If you add multiple interviews consisting of 20+ minutes, it can still be a full hour interview. Even so, maybe some parts of the interview are cut off so it turns to a shorter video that talks about the main questions and parts, so she may actually get full hour interviews, but it's a guess.@@johnsonwu126

Such a wonderful performance! Laufey's songwriting, vocals and musicianship are beyond measure. She's an old soul. Kudos to the great band, excellent sound mix and lighting/camera/directing crew. SO good!

What a legend this girl is… bringing back jazz to the pop scene and not being an native English speaker is way harder than people might think

I had never heard of her, she's wonderful.

I watched her play to a few hundred on Instagram a year or more ago. Now she is Grammy nominated and on Kimmel. Couldn't happen to a better person / talent.

Following Laufey since her first song dropped... and suddenly she's taking over the world! Moving to New York and then to Los Angeles really paid off. It's amazing she's getting this visibility. She's simply the voice bringing two eras together!

She's doing pleasant covers of classic songs from the American Songbook and her own tunes. That doesn't make her a jazz artist any more than decades of popular singers who have done the same. There's no shame in it, I don't know why she and her fans are so insecure and have to claim it's jazz. Yes, I'm gate-keeping 😉

Norah Jones hardly ever improvised, hardly ever covered Jazz standards, and only did her own pleasant "tunes" using your words. However Norah Jones won 9 grammy awards for her Jazz contribution. If it quacks like a duck, walks like a duck, then its a duck, period. Its fine and well if you are gatekeeping, but you don't know the sense of the meaning of gatekeeping. Gatekeeping means you protect Jazz standards classics, but that doesn't mean Jazz cannot evolve into something modern, and still be considered Jazz. Thats what Norah Jones did, thats what Corinne Bailey Rea did and thats what Laufey is doing. The fact that Norah Jones herself personally collabed with Laufey confirms Laufey belongs to the clique and group of well established Jazz artists.

@@kashe747 there's nothing modern or inventive in Laufey's performances. She's not evolving anything, she's just presenting the American songbook along with their own songs to a new audience. Nothing wrong with that! Linda Ronstadt and Rod Stewart and everyone else's ever recorded standards didn't turn into jazz musicians.

Tell me, how would you categorize Laufey type of music then? Which current day artists makes the type of music like Laufey does and hits mainstream charts? Practically none. Laufey did reinvented Jazz to her own type of music which does incorporates Jazz formulas. If you cannot distinguish that, then don't call yourself a Jazz gatekeeper, because obviously you have no understanding of music and certainly no understanding of Jazz.
