I mean I think there are definitely different types of venues for both. This is great because she's really well mic'd, in big shows, it's hard to get a good mic on the artist unless it's their company's video which obviously has access to the artist's live mic recordings. Also, both are probably edited a bit, but compared to a live show at a stadium it will be easier to hear since it's much more chill. Live shows at a stadium or at festivals are where you go crazy. Both are probably amazing for artists though, one where you have people so invested in your music they're silenced and the other you have people so invested in your music they're screaming your lyrics tell their voices give out. I'd imagine you'd feel amazing for either.

Holy crap this crowd is insane

"Just a little lyric flop, thats okay!" 18:07 - I dunno something about that moment was so humanizing and pure. She kept saying "ahh i hope i dont mess up the lyrics" and then she did and it was okay and she said it was! Its almost fitting that it happened during letter to my 13 year old self, a song about telling your past self basically "it'll all be okay" - letting go of the need for it all to be perfect and just like, being a grown up professional and messing up and it not being a big deal and THEN 25:58 forgetting and asking the audience "whats this part anyone got it?" and just like FULLY EMBRACING IT and it all being so so totally okay! I dont know i'm not explaining this well but. that little sentence, those little moments, meant a lot.

I think one of the reasons besides her talent why Laufey is such a captivating artist is that she has a very girl next door down to earth personality, she doesn't consider herself above anyone else. And people love an artist in which they can relate to, and the fact that she is tremendously talented helps too 🥰

I’m 70 years old, very cynical in general and familiar with the jazz greats and the singer songwriters. I must admit: She’s very good. Her lyrics and chords and very sophisticated. She’s a great singer AND an excellent guitarist. I concede. She’s outstanding.

It is a joy to watch an audience hanging on Laufey's every note and word.........it's not something you see very often these days in 'pop' music.

Her voice is so rich, only one instrument is needed to back her.

Jazz and Blues are making a tremendous comeback! The fact that a gentle jazz soul like Laufey can have this many people show up on a whim in LOS ANGELES of all places is freaking amazing

@@Bixmy okay yeah I agree with that. It’s more swing and yeah mid century 1940-60 pop with a jazz tinge and sometimes a lofi slant, but all things considered it’s jazz enough for me especially when she straight up emulates Chet Baker half the time lol but yeah I agree

She s a new category. Sort of a modern lyrical troubadour poppy jazz singer not afraid of walz and bossanova rhythms, laying her lyrics in a new way over her melodic and harmonious chord scales. There is soo much more about her music than meets the superficial eye. Wow. Wow. Wow. ❤❤❤

yes please dont call her song jazz it'll create misconception of what jazz are. she is not a jazz musician. calling her mid-century pop musician would be more appropriate. most of mid-century pop might sound like jazz but are not consider fully jazz by most if not all jazz musician that grow from the jazz that come from the root of blue bebob etc.

@@Bixmy Check out the chord scales, the numerous 2-5-1 sequences, listen to it next to the greatest 1300 Jazz songbook classics of all time and pls again 🙏 explain me it shouldn t been considered being jazz, or at least jazzy. Not that it 😕 matters though ... Don t understand you don t recognize her as being one of the greatest recent Jazz singer voices but that s only me talking. Luckily the North Sea Jazz festival, and numerous other Jazz festivals did 😀 ...

Alot of normal people would say they are both sound jazzy but Theres a slight different in the culture its originate from and how the music is conceived and pass on. And it also lack one of the essential criteria for jazz the improvising/band communication part (the orther 2 essential criteria are swing and the blues). not only that she actually is very disconnected to the jazz community and culture that has been cultivated until today. Most of her backup musician actually dont even have a jazz background. This is not to say that's its bad. her song are great and i love it. I often listen ot it but i have a hard time saying that its jazz this is the same as saying this is pizza but u have tortilla or other types of bread as base not pizza dough its not that its bad but it's not pizza.

The first time i checked out her songs on spotify she has around 800k monthly listeners, now she has 13million listeners. I'm shock!! She's getting famous ❤❤❤

It’s so beautiful. Looking back and empathizing with my younger self was something that I did recently and it was so emotional, and now we have a Laufey song about it. We are all just little kids that grew up.

Goddammit I almost cried at Letter to My 13 Year Old Self, it was so heartfelt and beautiful, I wish I could say the same things but to be honest, I still have a lot of getting better to do...

We are witnessing the birth of a greater talent in singing-songwriting than anyone in the past 20 years alone, not using any of the tricks in the book, showing absolutely bare with just a guitar and a microphone, bewitching thousands of people. Stuff we haven't since The Beatles performed on a roof - and she is unsigned!!! She is independent... impossible. This is wizardry

Love her deep resonance! I also never noticed how much her music reminds me of Radiohead. Such depth and feeling, even in a live setting. That's hard to do. She's great! 🙂

yea, Karen Carpenter is the goat by a country mile, she was a gift to humanity and there will never be another. don't get me wrong, Laufey is an amazing talent, she has a very unique style and puts everything together fabulously. i look forward to enjoying her music for many years to come.
