Morrisey is still to this day a man who intrigues me immensely. I just can't get enough of him.

Maybe it's odd but even when this guy comes out with some ridiculous comments (and there have been many) I can still never dislike him. He's just a kindred spirit type of person to me and always comes across awkward but interesting. Long live Moz!

The way I see it, he gets asked trick questions. The media edits it, reframes what he said, then tells others what they should think of him. And of course repeat it over and over again. What I think of him is that even personal songs are misinterpreted, let alone some of his opinions on world topics. I won't be forced my opinion of him by the media. If they let me hear/read ALL he said about a specific question, then I'd decide for myself. But the media is trying to eliminate that just to create catchy headlines...

He has llived most of his later years in America, so he's hardly affected by anything happening in the UK. If you read what I put, I still like the guy, but he has said some pretty dumb things.

Agree. His voice hits you in the gut and can break your heart. As male singers go he's up there with Sinatra and Van Morrison for me .

Moz had a phase where he was quite fascinated with thuggish types (boxers, skinheads, footballers, etc.).

This is the only time I've ever seen Jools Holland looking angry because he knows he is being made a fool of.

It's definitely from 1995, to promote Southpaw Grammar- I watched it at the time and also taped it, so it's ingrained on my memory!

Morrissey has a really relaxing speaking voice.

They cut a clip out from 'The New York Dolls' here and this wasn't '92 it was '95.

The audience is largely young and all look a little excited/nervous to be there. Not like today’s audience which seems to be populated with dull, middleclass bores that seem to think they are lining a funeral procession

I wouldn't say he became more outspoken, more that some sections of society had taken such a hard left turn that they were now rewarding the kind of idiot that made a big deal about anything he said that wasn't in lockstep with the regime

Depends on where you're from. In the UK, it is 'a lot' but in America, it is 'alot'. I'm not sure about Australia.

This is from 1995 not 1992. Hence Jools mentioning The Boy Racer and Southpaw Grammar, both from that year. In '92 he wore the gold lame shirt and sang tunes from that year's Your Arsenal. Good post otherwise

Morrissey is a bit like a fish, beautiful in the water (i.e. singing), but terribly shy and bordering on inarticulate out of water.
