I know, right? She seems like this cute Jewish grandma and like...how did she dial it in so hard to tease out the best in this complicated, storied, iconic and stubborn British artist? She couldn't possibly have been a fan back in the day. Yet she was able to create such a safe, curious, well-researched, and grounded. space for this exchange to casually and innocently unfold. I really freaking love it.

Flown then across the world to see him, Including the Broadway stint in 2019. I have even met and hung out with Johnny Marr (who despises Morrissey and considers Morrissey's mom even more of a "fascist" than the man himself). And in all of my research, my travels and my journeys -- including all the adorable '80s BBC interviews we are lucky enough to get to access online now -- this was by far the most disarmingly casual, humble and sweet interview I've found. It sure helps to be neutral when interviewing such a polarizing figure. This little lady did not have a dog in the race. And that made it a perfect moment.

Mind blowing to see Rosanna Scotto and Morrissey in the same room much less seeing them both perform a rather polite and informative morning banter on “Good Day New York” (my mouth was open the whole time). Keep in mind that the topics at 9AM are typically along the lines of “Is higher fat content milk chocolate changing the shape of runway models this year at Bryant Park?” I actually think she did a good job making him relaxed and personable, much more so than interviews I’ve seen in the past.
