Last Train From Gun Hill (Suite)

Directed by John Sturges in (1959). Kirk Douglas plays the Marshal tracking down the man who raped and murdered his wife, little realising that the killer is the son of an old friend (Anthony Quinn). The exceptional music score was composed by the legendary Dimitri Tiomkin.

Anthony Quinn and Kirk Douglas, two giant and magnificent film stars, playing characters on opposite sides of law. Both men had immense screen presence and their brilliant acting performances made this a very memorable film.

Tiomkin had such a distinctive style - staccato, almost atonal in parts. Never any doubt you were listening to one of his scores.

His scores were a movie unto themselves. They topped and started, were quiet, then loud, comic and dramatic. It's all there. They aren't just pretty music.

The music is obviously telling a story. Even if you don't know this one, (and it's a very good one), you could make up your own story. It's not just music- it's part of a movie.

The track however "The Train to Gun Hill" in 5:27 is easily on of the best in Tiomkin's career :)

Nice score but there's something about it I don't like. Probably I need to listen to it more . Good upload.
