    Ok 330/2 is 165 so you either weigh 165 and cnj 165 or you're lighter and cnj more or you are heavier and cnj less. Don't compare yourself to elite athletes bc clearly there's a level gap which is expected instead compare yourself to yourself and let that determine whether you're growing or not

    Lasha is still a unit! And a minor note on the Turkish pronounciations: You're already doing great with the names and with Genç, but Ozbek (Özbek) is pronounced with an "ö" sound, which is the same sound in "burst", or like in the French "le".

    So many people thought Lasha had no shot at 500 after hurting both knees ... Personally I never thought he would make 500, asking someone to add like 23 kilos to an already all time total world record, imo seems a bit like asking for world peace. But I mean he's past 490, so I wouldn't be shocked if he can find a way to get to 500, but it does feel like he's really really grinding for every last kilo now ... Id love to see him hit 500, but I wouldn't be shocked if he only manages something 496-8. It's amazing what modern drugs can do, thanks sports medicine. I'm sure part of his success is just more time under the bar, timing and the little changes that work best for him at a given strength, health, and bodyweight. But you'd have to be crazy to think this isn't with any ped they can get past the testing. That being said testing is the best it's likely ever been, so it's still very impressive that he's beating guys who could effectively take whatever they could get their hands on. But this feels like he just won't have quite enough in him for the 500 total personally but I do expect him to set at least one more total world record.

  • @ConnoisseurOfExistence

    @ConnoisseurOfExistence

    Жыл бұрын

    I think either this year at worlds or 2025 at worlds will be his highest total. Athletes don't want to risk too much at the olympics, as we saw last time. Also, modern drugs are no better than the drugs of the 80s. Plus, they were taking way more in the 80s and Lasha still left everyone in the dust. His snatch alone was tought by many to be impossible. Lasha's something like a genius of weightlifting.

    This is an excellent channel - thanks. Honest question involving no hate; could you talk to us about steroids in Olympic weightlifting? I get it when it comes to things like powerlifting, but Olympic weightlifting kind of has a respectable image in he public eye, and many of us are confused about the relationship between a respectable sport that has banned steroid use and tests for it, and then seeing people who obviously, without a doubt, most definitely use lots and lots of steroids. Could you please explain how it works? And before anyone attacks, please be reminded this is just a polite and reasonable question.

    I don't think anyone knows how it works, otherwise they'd be caught. Between bribes and undetectable compounds only the small fish gets caught. I think the antidoping machine now and then needs to be fed a lifter to defend its own existence. But it won't catch the big fish. The IWF doesn't seem to care. The IOC is only open about it if it would hurt their reputation to not communicate about it. In throwing and sprinting I can assure you there's just as much doping, and again very few get caught.

    Two possibilities - either it's just a psychological trick to make the weight seem less daunting and boost her confidence; or alternatively, it adds 5 kilos to the women's bar so that it's the same weight as a men's bar, which makes it easier to calculate and could be what she's used to.
