Stefan Voinea What is an assault rifle? A gun that looks scary? Fully Automatic weapons are already illegal for civilians to own. Automatic weapons for civilian purchase have been banned since 1986. A semi automatic weapon simply means each time you pull the trigger, one round is fired. Most handguns and pistols are semi automatic. The big scary AR style rifles are also semi automatic. Even though they look scary, and are labeled “assault weapons” they still fire one round when the trigger is pulled. The Vegas shooter used a bump fire stock to essentially modify a semi automatic rifle to emulate fully automatic fire. It’s a terrible tragic situation but extremely rare There are 16 million privately owned AR-15’s in the US 403 people in the US were killed by “assault rifles” in 2018 Over 7,000 people were killed in the US using handguns in 2018 443 were killed with hammers or other blunt objects 1,515 people were killed with knives or other cutting instruments So even though “assault rifles” may look scary, and may be used by terrible human beings for a mass shooting, they are a tiny fraction of overall gun incidents or deaths in general. Banning semi automatic rifles will not impact anyone but law abiding citizens

James Barnes Well, when the second amendment was written, there were no assault weapons. If there had been, I'm pretty sure there would have been a limiting clause. I have no problem with a person keeping and bearing arms, but I have to wonder what kind of person feels the need to keep a machine gun in their trailer. As for your 'rights', I suggest you read the Patriot Act. (Few people have - I keep a copy in my bathroom for guests). Spoiler alert - you don't have any. Best wishes to you, though :).

A person can't buy a full auto without a federal tax stamp , if you don't know your guns keep your mouth shut. This only shows your bias. .

makes me really sad that we turn this into a political issue. people died, that’s the bottom line. we shouldn’t be splitting each other’s skulls over how it could’ve been prevented because, at this point, it’s been done. focus on the people we lost, their families and how we can help.

No more killings. No more murder. No more firearm related death. We had enough. Get rid of weapon. But yet we should be able to protect ourselves as well. Dont deprive us of our right to protect. Find a way to stop the murder one way or another.

I didn't know that fully automatic weapons were allowed on ANY level in ANY state?! I am pro-gun, a gun enthusiast, for sport at a shooting range and in my home for personal protection but I do NOT believe anyone has a need for a fully automatic weapon. God bless those who lost their lives, those who were injured, traumatized, and the families who lost a loved one.

I remember waking up in the morning and finding out about this. I remember I was in 4th grade and nobody was aloud to talk about it. I also remember going to the welcome las vegas sign where there were all the 57 victims pictures and all that. And now to this day im still scared to this day of mandalay bay and being near it. Everytime im on the strip im always near T mobile arena and the fashion show mall area.

If this happened in 2022, people would have immediately known those were gunshots.

Ill still take the risk of being shot in the US over being acid attacked in the UK.

Yes, could be a group planed in the back or under the shadow, but I also believed there has more people like that old white man in the U.S.A right now and they are every angry, I don't wanna this happen again, but looks like it's little bit out of control. Just a sense of the world. Something wrong and need to be fix it soon, otherwise we all going to get involved.

Of course, all those guns in Hollywood movies are provided by US gun companies, not a chance the policies can change if you got big corporations like the movie industry being financed by weapon based manufacturing companies.

What laws would have stopped this shooting? NONE.

I can't tell you how deeply this hurts. Instead of blaming terrorist or criminal insanity we debate our freedom. This is a tragedy in more ways than one.

The gun fire reminds of a typical day in the south side of Chicago.

He says the argument that if you have a gun you could not defend yourself in this situation is totally incorrect. All it would have taken was one trained sniper what if 58 of those audience members we're carrying long range rifles and started returning fire whoever it was firing on that audience would have stopped real quick

My friends aunt got shot during this event but she is getting better now. She is in the hospital though 😞😞

Seculaity is not the poblem my dude. Have you heard about "Jesus Camp"? As a christian I would recommend you watching this documentary to open your eyes to where the real root sits.
