It's been like that since Trump made president. The USA was downgraded from 'full democracy' to 'flawed democracry' and has kept the classification ever since. Not directly because of either Trump or Biden, but because of the waning trust in democratic institutions. That said, I don't think Trump improved the situation any with his unsubstantiated claims of election fraud.

Seems the shooter had chosen to lie in an angle to the police /security forces that prevented them from directly seeing him. Makes sense to me.
