I used to be a bartender years ago. Scott LeDoux used to come in there once in a while and buy beers for his friends on his team, the bar hosted a softball league. Scott would come in there in his softball uniform and buy a round of beers. Very nice guy, it's so sad what happened to him.
Thanks for the upload. Good decision by the referee. LeDoux was on the receiving end of a one sided beating. Holmes won most of his fights with his piston left jab. It was quick, accurate and damaging.
I am a Holmes Fan and I am glad He gave Scott LeDoux a Title Shot. He had some controversial losses that could have went either way. He had fought Ken Norton to a Draw the previous August in which He virtually had Norton knocked out as the bell saved him. I think LeDoux did get Thumbed in the eye just the way he reacted when he went down. I think they should have let LeDoux finished the round. His eye was bad but this was probably going to be his only chance at a title shot, so let him go out on his shield. I would have gave him at least another round to show he could fight back. The difference between Holmes and Ali was that Holmes was all business. Muhammad Ali would have won a couple of early rounds and then laid on the ropes and let LeDoux win a couple of rounds to make the fight interesting. Larry never gave away rounds He wanted to get people out of there.

Many of Holmes’ opponents claimed to have been thumbed by Holmes.

@@davidbrandel4128 Ali’s opponents said the same thing, hey it’s tough business. I’m sure some did get thumbed. This fight will LeDoux yes he got thumbed but it was from an uppercut not the jab. It didn’t look intentional just unfortunate for LeDoux.
Ali made a fool of himself here at the last 2 minutes of the video. Holmes kicked his ass and he was already punchy. They never should have let him in the ring against Holmes. He did all this talking because he was jealous of Larry and the attention that came with the belt.

Ali was not that all that rich and took the fight for the money...
As a 7 yr old, the Holmes-Ali fight almost made me cry.

even now i have dificults watching it, I was happy to see MIKE BEAT the heck out of larry holmes it fell good💥💥💥💥💯🎯🎯🎯🎯👑👑
Scott LeDoux came to my area in 1981 to fight a local favorite Gord Racette .I t was a close fight but Scott lost a close decision but he actually deserved the win. Both fighters were brawlers no where near Holmes ability . Holmes was miles a head of any contenders in the 80s.
I remember what one local Birmingham newscaster said on the local news after the fight: “LeDoux didn’t ‘LeDoux’ too well.” 😂😂😂
Holmes a great champion. Watching this fight it looked as though Holmes was providing Scott time and to showcase his skills for a few rounds.
43:20 🤣🤣🤣 Great memories when title fight wernt pay per view and they were on national TV
Somebody please upload the Ledoux/Bobick fight!
Ledoux/Wepner would have been a good fight!
Maybe in 1980, Ali, before losing to holmes, would still beat ledoux. After beating Joe Bugner, Ali would still whoop ledoux If not, then who knows
Scott LeDoux's wife Sandy died of cancer in 1989 (they never cure anyone) . Scott died of boxing related ALS/dementia in 2011. The insanity of the upcoming Holmes-Ali fight was evident here showing Ali's puffy face and his slurring... This video would have been better if the commercials were left in...

shows how short life is never know of tomorrow
Had to watch this fight on the Austin MN ABC station as the telecast was blacked out on KSTP(Minneapolis/St Paul ABC station) The TV listings for that nibs confirm the fight was blacked out in the Minneapolis DMA(Channel 5 showed a movie instead)
This was prime Larry Holmes. As for Ledoux's terrible performance, it's hard to see how the man ever qualified for a title shot. This really was one of the poorest exhibitions at the championship level you'll see. It was worse than any first round knockout. The man had no aptitude and apparently no knowledge of how to fight.

@exar657 no he wasn't
He was dubbed "The Fighting Frenchman". Should've been "The Human Punching Bag". This guy fought with his hands at waist level and couldn't figure out why he got his ass kicked so often. How did this stumblebum get a title shot?

I totally agree , never even tried to block , had to laugh when he said Holmes only hit him with a couple good jab's ? Similar thing happened to him when he fought Greg Page if I remember right.
Poor sod didnt really have a chance here did he?

He'd have had a better one if he hadn't carried his left hand on his hip. I've never seen a more clueless performance.
Ali after the fight goin in 😂
What does the crowd want to see, blood and guts?

The crowd wants to see somebody killed. Then they can have something to talk about for at least the next week.

They likely wanted the fight to continue since the crowd was decidedly behind LeDoux(the fight was held at the Met Center in Bloomington MN and LeDoux was from the Twin Cities area)
That’s right. Bring the little boy to see his dad get the shirt kicked out of I’m.
LeDoux was pretty good, Cooney was much better.
