LD is so free, I mean psychologically free, even in front of the camera. it's rare to see such spontaneity and honesty and ability to laugh at oneself. Makes me envy him

@@DMU386 thats true but Larry has always had that attitude of not really caring and speaking his mind 100%. he says in his early stand up days he struggled bc he would fight with the audience and straight up walk off right after walking on lol and the whole blowing up and quitting SNL then coming back the next day. he is the funniest man alive!

@@Joseph1NJ , Seinfeld was hired by NBC, then Jerry asked David to write the show with him. Seinfeld was already doing pretty well for himself before the show. Without the show, we definitely wouldn’t know who Larry David was. I think they would both say they were both the brains behind the show. It wouldn’t have been great without both of them.

@@caseyquinn9282 See, when I watch the show, all I see is Larry David. BTW, the first season of Seinfeld sucked. I honestly don't know how it survived.

In the 80s, he dated a woman whose father wrote the book Revolutionary Road. The first time he was supposed to meet him, the daughter got held up and he ended up having to spend 2 hours at a restaurant alone with the most intimidating man he'd ever met. This is what inspired the Seinfeld episode where they meet Elaine's father.

I completely agree

The way he turns and addresses the audience just as if they were a person. Speaking in a natural tone. He's pretty much the only talk show guest who would do that, yet it makes perfect sense.

no, bullsh*t. He's responsible for maybe 25% of the show at most. Over the years, they had a lot of talented writers on staff that came up with a lot of those episodes besides LD. The one person most responsible for making it so funny is Jerry Seinfeld, who not only acted, but also wrote and directed many episodes. It was Jerry who was extremely successful at most everything he attempted that threw a lifeline to Larry David, who had failed at everything he attempted in life to help him with the new "Seinfeld" show. Yes, LD was very important in the success of the show, but he paled in comparison the Seinfeld.

Larry as the "man in the cape" was hilarious too. So randomly strange and inspiring at the same time.

He's so effortlessly funny and charismatic.

It simply doesn’t get any better than LD. Great guest, great chemistry, and a straight up comedic genius. Any of the 11 years of Curb works all the time and makes me feel better instantly. Great upload guys.

The whole guy is a walking, talking Seinfeld moment.

One of the most relatable personalities on earth. A true treasure.

He is a really funny and pleasant man. Now I understand why his show was so successful because it is really enjoyable to see him talk not to mention seeing his writing abilities at their best in Seinfeld.

The genius of Larry David is he fools everyone by being "unlikeable", all the while being extremely considerate and excellent. His performance eternally begs the question to the audience "who else are you holding in judgement that is actually a dear friend?" Bravo!

First time on the show and theyre a well oiled machine. David sets'em up and Larry knocks'em outta the park! Gold!

Hail to the King of Comedy. Larry has made me spit beer across the room more than any other comedian.

I love that whenever I see a Larry David thumbnail, I can't tell if it was from 20 years ago or 2 months ago.

"and then I gave him the ax"... perfect timing and delivery.

This whole interview is just amazing, remember seeing it live back then.

George did that exact same thing! He quit his job, immediately regretted it and showed up the next day to a meeting as if nothing had happened. I love that a majority of the episodes were based off of Larry's actual life! Seinfeld is the greatest sitcom of all time.

Jason played Larry so well.

I go on a Seinfeld marathon every other week or month. Can basically monologue every episode. Love it!!!!

Don’t forget he is the newspaper stand guy who tells George he doesn’t accept a 20 with writing on it. On the airplane he yells to Elaine he is eating her meal. Also he is the space guy.

LD just loooooved quoting Steinbrenner saying he is a "big boy". Look at the grin on his face!

I wish someone could find the show where Andrea Martin was on and she absolutely rips Schaffer apart. You could see Paul just boiling. And I'm pretty sure Andrea Martin was never on the show again. It was a classic beat down on how Schaffer was actually nerdy and not the hipster he tried to portray. Martin had known him many years earlier in Canada. Damn, I'd love to see that again.

I knew Larry was funny. But here he also comes off as a likable guy. Who would've known!

The funniest people around are always funny, naturally. They don't have to try. LD is one of those. I just have this constant smirk when he talks.

Larry David is such an odd creature. And yet pretty (pretty^^) much anyone of us recognizes dome parts of him (or his alter ego George) in ourselves. And I think that's what makes it such a guilty pleasure laughing at his shenanigans
