I was in Dayton in 73-75. During that time, I saw what hit Xenia in 1974. I also saw a 100 year lightning storm and a 50 year cloud formation. The lightning storm was like a strobe light in the clouds. There had to have been 10 flashes of lightning every second. It was incredible. The cloud formation was whispy clouds but they were small and from horizon to horizon and the sky was completely clean after a storm. Also I was in Xenia a hour after the EF5 hit it in 1974. The damage was incredible.
huge wall of hail and very high winds and tornadic rotations

The green color you sometimes see in storms typically just means that the storm has lots of hail within it (which was the case). However, a brief EF-0 tornado did occur from the first storm, after it had already passed my location.
I'm living in the wrong country ! Hardly get any storms in uk . Weather is pathetic most of the time
