We already have star players lol… Suzuki is a star player, Caufield is a Star player… We do not have a superstar player and Slafkovsky is definitely on the path at becoming that… in my opinion Slafkovsky is going to be a franchise level player, Not generational obviously like Bedard, Crosby, Mcdavid etc, But Franchise level like Rantanen, Pastrnak, Matthew Tkachuk, William Nylander etc… Juraj will fall under the franchise category if he hits his potential… Some franchise players are better than others but they still fall under the same category…

Pfff !

Marty St. Louis is 100% an amazing coach for this team as of right now… When Kent Hughes takes that next step and starts to add players for this team to make the playoffs How good Marty will be as a coach at the time remains to be seen, But as of right now he’s amazing… We also have to consider as Marty gets more experienced he’s going to get better and better behind the bench… Maybe he does not win a cup with the habs but I have no doubt in my mind Marty is winning a cup with a team as a coach….

Look at the Leafs. What kind of dressing room do they have ? When you have 4 players making 70% of the cap, what kind of chemistry is there ? Players working as hard, if not harder, earning so much less. Give Slaf a dollar less than Cole. You play well in Montreal there's a lot of endorsement $. Habs are closer to winning a cup than Toronto. They have the dressing for winning.

I would offer 7.6 million at first and if that can’t get it done 8.4 would be the highest I would go at this point just because Slaf hasn’t proved to be worth that money you could say, But if he signs even at 8.4 million that contract will look like a steal in 2 years from now… My opinion Slaf has 100 point potential he’s going to be worth that money and if the Habs give him a bridge deal it’s gonna cost way more when he’s due like 2-3 million more especially with the cap being higher in 2 years from now… Also Leafs 4 players take up 53.3% of their cap but I know you would just over exaggerating lol…

You are right he probably doesn't fit the timeline. But that doesn't mean they don't need a guy like him right now. Unless one of the young defenseman breaks out offensively or they get a really good off then he will be on this team for a few years to eat minutes and QB the powerplay.

@@andrewmoulton7429 once Hutson gets here he’s going to QB the first unit and Matheson would be good for the second unit…. I totally disagree with Matheson not fitting the timeline.. Go look at all the Stanley cup winning teams you will always find a D man that’s in their middle to late 30s… even if Matheson loses a little bit of his speed he will still be a good skating D man that is important in the locker room… A voice like his is worth a lot and if he’s playing on the 3rd pair at that point it’s probably gonna bring good value to the team… Players that can skate like Matheson do not lose that smoothness in their skating they may lose some speed but he will always be a smooth skater… His skating is borderline elite if he even drops to NHL average he’s still a good D man lmao…

Tortorella is one of the worst coaches. He's a perfect fit for Philly. Garbage organization with a garbage coach. He's a coach that his tactics work for a short period but fizzles out cause he expects his team to run at 100% 100% of the time. You simply can't coach like that cause players will start ignoring you. He and Babcock are cut from the same cloth. That's not a good thing.

Marchesseault plays like a 6 ft player Caufield like a 5'5 no comparison. Why are we even comparing the two Marchesseault makes 5 mil a year Caufield 8 mil one Caufield has yet to sniff a PLUS season. Claiming they are 6th best in league as a first line 5 on 5 is ignoring they are a MINUS meaning they must be even worse giving up goals. Slafkovsky has been gifted first line and PP already when VERY few other 19 year olds have been and that includes Lalfleur and Richer. So those other players accomplished more with less ice time not on the first line/pp and were a PLUS.Once Lafleur was the go to first line guy and Robinson in his second season similar to having a Matheson Guy was a 100+ player and a huge PLUS. Until our first line can prove they are a PLUS and AGE is no longer used as an excuse they will NEVER win a Stanley Cup.
