"And all without a shred of malice" That's Lao in a nutshell. It's just going on its merry way, unconcerned with or even unaware of the destruction it causes. Perhaps if a person could truly communicate with Old Mountain Dragons, they could convince them to take more care in where they step, and thus remove the need for conflict with them.

​@@inciacci549Correct, usually whenever we fight Lao Shan Lung hes running from Fatalis as he just turned up, sensing the power from the big lad. Canonically when you repel him from the fortess, he gets killed by fatalis and a dormant Shen Gaoren takes over his skull.

I was hoping for a Rise Lao with the new turret mechanics. Rampage feels purpose made for something like this.

Colossal monsters are nothing but awe-inspiring. Truly monuments of nature in the Monster Hunter world. And Lao Shan-Lung deserves to be treated as such.

I know this is a very unpopular opinion but iv always enjoyed seige fights, even Zorah Magdaros i loved. I hate farming it but from a pure spectical point of view i love them

Really hope that we get a Lao 16 person Siege bigboi needs a glow up and the Mohrans too!

I've watched this a few times now, and that intro is just *chef's kiss* No words, just the sound of something almost too large to understand slowly walking, not even towards you, just moving unbothered by anything, because nothing can bother it

Biggest wishlist for Wilds for me is either Lao or Dalamadur returning the graphics and fight would be insane.

The way you described Lao Shan-Lung's arrival by people feeling it's footsteps, reminded me of the T-Rex intro scene from Jurassic park, only up to eleven.

I haven't played this specific game that Lao is in, but all the descriptions I've heard make the creature sound like it's the size of Godzilla. The stories just make my imagination go crazy

It's in Generations Ultimate on the Switch, so you're always able to go and give it a try there. Alternatively, emulating older games its in is incredibly easy, though personally I find that those versions of the fight are a bit too barebones to be super enjoyable. I've always found the very similarly structured siege that came out in MH2 (against a different monster called Shen Gaoren) to be way better.

Now that you've done Lao Shan-Lung and all of its glory, I can't wait for the Shen Gaoren, Dalamadur, Jhen Mohran, and Laviente the humongous monsters, and all of their glory!!!

I just got back from watching Godzilla Minus One in the cinema, it was amazing. Now I get watch a video about the Old Mountain Dragon too. ❤

Lao is basically Aptonoth but Elder Dragon.

I absolutely LOVE this series! And I can’t wait for season 2!

If you play Monster Hunter 2/DOS you can find a Lao's skull inside the mine of Jumbo village with a sword imbedded in it. And there's also the Kokoto village chief that fought Lao twice and one of those times was a solo mission.

Oh man, it's the big one!Literally! Lao Shan is what cemented Monster Hunter as something special in my heart. It's great to see it finally getting some love!

One day we may be able to finally cut its tail with the Centenarian Dagger...

It's fair to say that Lao Shan lung could grow much bigger than the one we fight. The skull on Shen Gaoren's back is HUGE

There is no better way to end this series's season 1 by the OG siege big monster, Grandpa Lao!! Seeing this monster first time in Freedom Unite fills me of excitement, worry of how to fight it and dread. Its really fun to see the same reaction from my friends when we played MHGU later on. I've got a new appreciation for ol' Lao now, thanks to this great video. It'll be a good day when season 2 is released; I just hope that I'm not imagining the foreshadowing of the Magalas.

Truly and amazing series. Being fairly new to monster hunter, this is some of the coolest monster hunter lore I've seen. I'm rarely excited to see a lot of the in-depth lore as much as I am for these. The effort and detail that both, you put into these videos, and the devs put into the monsters and the world is amazing. I'm loving learning these little details, and for a few of these creatures, I'm loving the fact that I can notice them in Monster Hunter World. Thank you, for making the little gamer-lore part of my brain very happy!

Excellent timing, I just got up to G2 in GU, so my first proper encounter with good ole Lao is nebulously soon. Big fellas have always been a soft spot for me personally, yeah they’re a massive departure from normal gameplay, take an eternity to complete, all that jazz, but there’s something so inherently cool about fighting something that large, something that simply couldn’t care less about you otherwise, and proceeding to give it a reason.

And here we go the finale to season 1 with the big guy himself. Can’t wait for next season

Given how this is the final episode of the 1st season, I'm curious as to why you didn't cover the isolated case of one particular Lao-Shan Lung fleeing from Fatalis.

Further research must be done, and I urge The 5th Fleet to recover the corpse of the Zorah Magdaros it tracked for an in-depth study, however, I understand it may be simply too large, and for now, leaving Elder Dragons as simply a mystery is perfectly acceptable, given how mysterious they and their abilities typically are. Still, I cannot help but wonder how Zorah Magdaros' Shell differs from its relative.

Lao is so mejestic and massive. I'm honestly surprised we never saw a variant invade Kamura, as it has defenses suiitable for such an event due to the proclivity of the rampage.

While this wouldn't be fitting for the monster hunter series, if we ever get a more "open world survival crafting" type hunting game, I would absolutely love to have to find a migration route, spend hours building up fortifications and siege equipment, and a prolonged struggle just to take down a creature like this down.

Dang, we really need the return of colossal monster. I remember having fun hunting him together with my friend on Freedom Unite. All the colossal monster is fun with friend, kinda clunky hunting it solo. Some idea that i can think of making colossal monster hunt even better is first, combining it with tweaked Rampage mechanic, in this case give us the ability of summoning turret mount by NPC and special NPC, and in the end is the Dragonator and Wyvernshot. It can make the battle much more dynamic i think, working together with other hunter on the village/base to stop the giant monster. The second is maybe doing something like Siege from World/Iceborne, but instead of 16 hunter on 4 team on their separate screen, it's 16 hunter on 4 team on the same screen, or if it risk the game lagging, either reducing the foliage on the map, making it more simple or maybe reducing it to 8 hunter on 2 team on the same screen. I'm sure it will be fun hunting with other team, especially if you play with your friend, where you have some mission to play with more than 4 people, while the usual hunt you need to cycle? your friend because of the 4 hunter limit

...Y'know, thinking about it, it'd actually be ultra-simple to research a Lao. Just... Follow it. I'm certain there will be obstacles that must be avoided, but through the use of balloons, supply drops, and so on... You'd be able to pretty easily research the creature.
