Keep up the good work and, greetings from the Caribbean (Trinidad). Since high school, I've yearned for a Series Land Rover. Bought myself an assembled in Trinidad, 1986 Series 3 for my 67th birthday in April and the ground-up restoration is just about almost done. I think the Series is a marvelously engineered utility vehicle, a blank canvas if you will, and the owner modifies and tricks it out to suit their unique needs and taste as evidenced by the myriad of end-user configurations..... mine is of course no exception. Great to see, so many people restoring these great vehicles.

Just for future ref. if you put new spark plugs into the block is always a good habit to put some spark plug "grease" on the threads. That is actually a ceramic paste which can handle a high temp and don't let the plugs corrode into the block. So, you can remove them much easier, the next time you have to change them, without damaging threads or brake the plugs in. However keep up the good work Sophie. Thanks for saving a true British Legend.

Sophie, I love the work you're doing to your Land Rover Series III & the detail of workmanship going into it. I don't know who's been teaching you to love these Landies but make sure you give them a beer. Mates of mine bought Land Rover Perenties that are ex-Australian Army and by hell things can go anywhere and take a beating. The only differences between the Defender & the Perentie is the Isuzu four-cylinder 4BD1 diesel engine or 4BD1-T turbo and the galvanised chassis. You'd have a field day with them here. Where there's muck, there's brass! It's also a pleasure to hear a beautiful Yorkshire dialect such as yours. My dad is from Yorkshire & he passed away in 2007. I miss his dialect & listening to yours makes me miss him more. My mother is from Lancashire & she only passed away recently. As a first generation Australian & living in regional New South Wales, there's not many from the north. If you can add a few Yorkshire-isms from time to time, it'll be appreciated. Hope you have your neighbours onside while you're working on your Series III in the backyard. Love your work & keep it up!

Great inspiration for many people, thanks for all your time in making such a cool video 😊 To add my 2 pence worth......you mentioned free wheeling hubs, in my experience over my years of just solely working on Landrovers, in my opinion, they are the devil's work and a bit of an annoying gimmick, unless you remember to turn them on once a week, which nobody would! They cause so much damage to the front axle and steering, screwing up the top swivel bushes (lack of splash lubrication), which wear them selves into oblivion, causing all that steering wander people always acuse landrovers of having when they are worn, this then causes all the other steering components to wear out faster...... So bin free wheeling hubs is my tip, I can't see they save much fuel anyway, and they look poo! Only my opinions 😉 keep up the great work on these fun vehicles, cheers

I'm not convinced - I bought one thinking it was going to make my garage work so much easier and more 'professional', but aside from specific items (like hub bearings) it was always a faf getting things *to* it or into it (if they fitted at all), add to that the cost of filling the thing up with kerosene or the water based stuff and the room to house it, and it's kind of a white elephant. A friend of mine used to use a bucket, a sieve, a paintbrush and a cup of petrol and do the same job in probably less time.

Very interesting, initially I just wanted to glance through and move on. But that measured, mesmerising voice urged me to watch the whole video. Good work and hats off to you for the restoration work. Cleaning up is a herculean task. Looking forward to see it fully restored. I vapourise with paint thinner to remove stubborn old paint. Very easy DYI method. If done correctly we can remove paint layer by layer.

I've found that the only real way to get rid of rust, is either to cut it out. And weld in fresh new steel. Or with axle's etc. is to have it sand or bead blasted. The later though being costly, for us mere mortals. And in my area, hard to find someone who does either. Takes me to that self same place as doing what you did, although I tend to use Ku-Rust. ((..& Why Ku-Rust? Practical Classics mag. did a comparison test yrs ago, and it came out as the best.)) Very impressed, your not afraid to get your hands and anything else dirty, and will tackle anything, within reason. Another Ace video here, thank you for making & listing it. Shane. :-)

Greetings from the States. It's nice to see a young lady getting into old cars. Good job. When I get rusty parts, I really like to sand blast and epoxy, a good epoxy primer is very hard to damage.

Don't have a land rover, but I've been rust repairing my 21 year old Pajero, cleaning it up with a wire wheel then using a Forch rust converter which is similar to your jenolite, though thinner and then spraying over it with a Forch underbody protection spray. The plan is using a lanolin oil called Prolan inside any cavities I wasn't able to get to like inside the frame and such, similar to fluid film but isn't supposed to harm any rubber components. Don't really know much about cars, but I'm happy to find this video and see someone using similar methods as I am to prevent rust.
