Episode Notes:
1. Captured via the Mega SG.
2. Land of Illusion is easily twice as long as Castle of Illusion.
3. This was released in 1994 in Brazil, nearly a decade after the hardware's original availability in Japan.
4. Japan didn't see a Master Version either.
5. I cropped out the HUD in the Game Gear footage so you could see more of the screen with the overlay. You can see it in the stand alone footage right after.
6. While the Genesis didn't see a version of this, it did see Quackshot and World of Illusion around the same time. Both of which contain many of the same elements.

My favorite Master System game, period. The only downside are the frequent slowdowns, other than that, I just love it. Beautiful graphics for an 8 bit game, great level design, backtracking, exploration (getting all the hidden stars shows a special ending), man, what a game. In my humble opinion it's the pinnacle of the Illusion series, including the 16 bit games.

For a Master System game, the graphics and colours look REALLY good here. Almost looks like it's pushing the hardware limitations, so I'm surprised the game plays so smoothly as well

I was hoping you'd cover this one after your Castle of Illusion review. Land of illusion was one of my favorite games as a kid. So much variety in its level design.

Anytime there’s any amount of parallax in a master system game it is automatically worth checking out

Great content as always. I really need to give this game a try as played Castle of Illusion on both the master system and the Genesis but completely forgot all about this.

Another awesome video my friend! This really took me back! I loved this game, together with GG Shinobi I & II as well as Wonderboy 3: The Dragon's Trap on the Game Gear. During the last 20 years I have been so accustomed to play the early parts of the game that I had actually forgotten a lot about the later stages and skills. I usually only completed the game when we drove from Sweden to Hungary during summers (24hour trip), because it actually required A LOT of time to do so. The Game Gear was a godsend for me, saving me for boredom. And truthfully, it felt awesome to have console quality games in the car! (I had a 12V to 9V car adapter for the system so no need for chugging massive amounts of batteries). Thank you for reminding me about this game. I know it was good, but the end game part was definitely the best! I have to play it again. all the way through! :D
