This was my wedding song. I had long dark hair then, a bouquet of black calla lillies, and a 1930's satin bias cut gown. The wedding party walked through a garden to an altar of deep red roses while I overlooked them from a balcony then came down the spiral staircase with dramatic flare. It was absolutely perfect!

Am I the only one that realizes how truly depressing Born to die the Paradise Edition is? At the beginning of the album she's in love and she would do anything for this man...until the sixth song, national anthem. Where he is depicted as the president in the music video and she is his wife and obviously he dies. Then there's dark paradise where she is mourning him and scared that when she dies he won't "be there on the other side". Then throughout the album it is filled with her saying I'm fine and trying to distract her with things like drugs (Yayo) trying to have another relationship and it not working out (Cola and Million Dollar Man) her thinking sex and friends will take her mind off of his death (God's and Monsters, Lolita, This is what makes us girls) until finally she realizes that she can't live without him, and she decides to kill herself, which is what bel air is about. The lyrics are very telling and laid out there with the lines like "I can't wait to see you", "Gargoyles standing at the front of your gate, telling me to wait", "Bel Air, take me there". Bel air is heaven and she can't live without her boyfriend or fiance or husband. I don't know if any of this has really been confirmed but it's just my theory that I in my personal opinion think that it makes sense.

I like how the 'glitches' make it feel like there's something off and give the whole thing an ominous undertone... like you're seeing a beautiful scene with heavenly music, but it's not real. Also anyone else notice at the very beginning he's holding her under water? Then at the end they ascend together. Like it hints at baptism but also at death. Purification, either way. They take off their black clothes (what he was wearing for the robbery in Tropico) and change into white. I think it symbolizes them dying, or at least leaving that life behind together.

Nothing compares to this song. It reminds me of my darkest but happiest memories, the beginning orchestra added into just makes it so much more emotional. The song touches me so deeply every word she sings. I feel like I'm in the world I dream of in this song, anything I've ever wanted anyone I've ever loved, I think of it/them when I hear this song it's heaven. It helps me so much it's so healing, it makes me want to cry. I love it so much it has always touched me so deeply. The piano is so elusive and the way she looks in this video, the whole image and mood she is setting, I fall in love with it. It makes me so happy and I want to cry because it just reminds me of a certain time in my life, besides Ride, this song is me. Bel air is simply one of the most beautiful dramatic songs I love with all my heart. Nothing compares to Lana. It's like a combination of this peace, but this sadness like loneliness, it touches me at my saddest times and comforts me. Thank you so much Lana

While her earlier song "Axl Rose Husband" is about her teenage crush on Axl, "Bel Air" is about their tryst, after they met in 2012. "Bel Air" does not refer to the posh neighborhood, but to Axl’s Chevrolet Bel Air. He used to take Lana on rides in Malibu, cruising in his oldtimer. She had no problem with making their relationship public, while he wanted to keep it private and so she wrote this song for him, with obvious references to his public persona "bad baby", "idol of roses, iconic soul", his songs "Sweet child o’mine", his famous Bob Dylan cover "heaven’s door", "lead me to w.a.r." - acronym for William Axl Rose and the piano intro was inspired by the sound of raindrops falling as a homage to Axl’s masterpiece "November Rain".

This song is about Axl Rose (for those who doesn't know him he's the vocalist in Guns N' Roses), let me tell you why : "Bel-Air" in the title and repeated throughout the refrain has a dual meaning. First, it is a location in Los Angeles, a city in which Axl Rose lives. Additionally, he is known for driving a restored Chevy Bel-Air automobile. So, when she says "Roses, Bel Air, take me there." I think she's talking both about going to Bel Air to meet her boy. In the second verse, the lyric "sweet child of mine" directly alludes to the hit single by Guns N' Roses of the same name. Further, in the third verse, Del Rey sings "Idol of roses, iconic soul. I know your name" again refers to Axl Rose, indirectly describing him as a music icon known for "Roses" (or Guns N' Roses, as it were). There are other parts like : "...To heavens door" (another famous Guns N' Roses song), and there's another verse too where it says "Spot light, bad baby , you’ve got a flare for the violentest kind of love anywhere out there.. She's talking about Axl's ex wife Erin Everly 'cause their relationship was really really messed up, and well that's all, still fucking love this song and still fucking loving Lana ♥

Lana's best song in my opinion and it somehow makes me feel like there's hope of finally feeling peace after I die. I know that sounds morbid, but it just makes me feel this peace I've never felt and I feel like dying will feel like that. (I'm not suicidal btw).

  • @dr_rune

This is tremendously evoking. It's clearly meant to remind of girls playing with dolls in quiet summer days, and perhaps even of their fantasies of knights in shining armor. Yet there's a deeper feeling I get from it, true hope and satisfaction, not of girls, but of a woman seeing her dream of old come true. D.R.

My life isn't all that great and this song helps me cope with the trauma I endure. Idk what I'd do if Lana never made music. I'm so glad she does. This is majestic. This saves me everyday. I pray that no one else goes through tough times because the sadness and heartbreak is all too real. Good wishes to all❤

"Gargoyles standing at the front of your gate." Lana Del Rey continues to amaze me with her symbolism and petry. I've never heard of a better metaphor for a church. "Idle of Roses, Iconic Soul" used later to express how much God loves us and wants to brag on us. Purely Genius and Magnificent.
