Lamborghini Countach Replica Rolling Chassis UPDATE

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

Here's an update video of the progress so far. The chassis is not finished yet, but we painted it for the Kitcar show at Stoneleigh 2015. Still a long way to go. If you have any questions, please ask in the comment section and I'll try and answer. I do try and reply to any comments, but there's a problem with KZread and my comments don't show up below. I don't know why. Sorry.

  • @ProjectSupercar

    It wasn't my choice to end the Countach build, I had put my own build on hold to do it, then it ended. So I'll be going back to my first project (see my other videos), but I still have the ground work I did on the Countach build, so I could start a new one, if funds allow. But I'll be finishing the VMR6 first. I'm planning on posting videos on that build around spring time next year, once I've got a few things in place. ;)

    Hi again! I'm self-funded for a turn-key build of a Countach replica, and quality is hard to find. Let me ask, has your Rebellion chassis above in the video been paired with a Countach body shell from a major seller e.g., Prova or Sienna or Mirage or some others that I'm not aware of, to determine what would fit?

  • @ProjectSupercar

    @ProjectSupercar

    6 жыл бұрын

    You're right about finding a quality kit hard to find. This project was originally a badly part-built Mirage 2, which was then stripped down and even more badly part-built, by a so-called "professional". I then took on the project, stripped it down, and started again. The Mirage 2 chassis is possible the best one on the market, being designed by Lee Noble, but it is still under-developed for any Countach build, for example when you jack up the car, the chassis flex is so bad you can't close the door. I was considerably stiffing the chassis to stop this, and then re-engineering the whole car. I do have some photo's and raw video footage of early progress, I may put them together in some form of KZread video, if there's interest.

    That is a beautiful chassis. I am also currently building a Countach. I hope to have a chassis of similar quality when I am done. It is difficult here in the U.S to build replicas as most of the companies that once supplied kits are no more. Can't wait to see the body mounted!

    MrDanaDunn Thanks MrDanaDunn, We have the same problem in the UK. There isn't a company that do chassis' to this level of detail, you have to do it yourself sadly. You'll have to post a few photos of your build, sounds interesting. The body has been on several times, but wont be permanently mounted until the car is almost complete. I'll be posting more videos as this project moves forward, stay tuned. lol. ;)

    Thanks, if you want to go the Auto route, I'd probably suggest the 4HP18 CDU from the Audi A6 C5 2.5TDi. I'm pretty sure they have the same bell housing bolt pattern as the manual, and there are adapter plates out there to fit the manual to the bmw V12. If you're not going big power on the V12, and drag racing your car, this gearbox should hold up pretty well.

    Tony Rios Thanks, not sure on the fuel tank capacity. It has twin tanks which I had to modify. All I can add is that I started with a very old Mirage 2 kit (see first video) which was badly butchered. I had to undo a lot of bad work and start again. The fuel tanks came with the kit, so I think they're Mirage 2.

    I know it will be difficult to get an exact price, but ball park, now much is a "turn key" car with that exact chassis and engine combo (as shown on this video)? VS all the parts needed to complete the kit minus putting it together (ie. all the parts needed to complete the car in kit form)?

    I was working on an Audi based V10 Countach, with a final turnkey price of around £50K, but sadly this project has come to an end. I am starting on my Cerberus project this summer, so may be posting new videos on that. If I ever get the funding, I may complete the countach project, which had a possible 200mph top speed.

  • @ProjectSupercar

    @ProjectSupercar

    Oh, lovely car. I've given the idea to build a Miura chassis a lot of thought, and if I had the cash I'd probably build one. Yes, there used to be a few companies offering kits, but weren't very good, I think they're all out of business now. As for plans? I don't think any exist. Most kits were chopped up Fiero's or MX-5's, which I personally wouldn't do. If I were to build my own chassis, I'd start my research with the original car, there is some information and photo's on the net. Research Miura restorers and maybe contact them. You might be able to get a set of original plans on .pdf and work from there? Anyway good luck, sorry I couldn't be more help.

    @@ProjectSupercar Hi is thank you for your answer. actually not easy to make this Miura, according to my research the chassis is based on that of the GT40..... a reference in this area. For my project I think from this chassis, but for the body it will be that of the Miura concept of the year 2000/2002, to tell the truth I hesitate between the Miura is the Jaguar xj 220..... I'm surprised no one does these lines! I use the google translator, because I'm French.... so "zero" in English ... Sorry! Is thank you again for replying to me. Friendly

    @@lucienlorenzo7802 Yes, I have heard that. Some people have used a modified GT40 replica chassis. I believe you have to lengthen the wheelbase a little. A ford GT40 has a wheelbase of 241cm and a Lamborghini Miura has a wheelbase of 250cm. I would say the body and glass would be difficult. Same with the XJ 220. It would be a great project, if you had the money. Good luck with your project, or is that "bonne chance" :)

I have a list for the countach parts. From the real providers. Fiat , alpha romeo, Cortina, Metcedes ect on all the small parts. And I had seen one guy asking if anyone knew where to find the lambo parts like door catches and latches and lights and such. So I put up that list for him. I got my butt jumped by every parts sellers on the site. Why did you yell everyone that info? You ruined my sales and on and on. So apparently its all supposed to be only for a certain group to know. And I'm not one if them. Lol
