Lagos Blueline Rail Project Phase 2 Construction Update & The Lagos Blueline Rail Corridor Cleanup

In this video, I will taking you guys to Lagos-Badagry Expressway from Iyana-Iba to Mile 2 to see the clean up done on the BRT / Blue line Rail corridor. We will also be looking at the ongoing construction of the second phase of the Lagos Blueline Rail that will start from Mile 2 to Okokomaiko on the Lagos Badagry Expressway.
The Blue Line is an electric rapid transit line that runs in Lagos, Nigeria. It is part of the Lagos Rail Mass Transit system run by the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA)
The first phase with five stations and 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) of track opened on 4 September 2023 with the Governor of Lagos State as the first passenger to board.
The full line is set to be 27 kilometres (17 mi) and is expected to carry 500,000 passengers a day.
LAMATA has proposed seven lines in the Lagos network; Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Purple, Brown and Orange. The first phase of the Blueline is the first to be completed while construction is ongoing on the second phase. Also the first Phase of the redline is almost completed and it’s scheduled to start operations in first quarter of 2024.

You are welcome!!! Iyana-Iba has really transformed to the point that some people still argue about that place not being Iyana-Iba.

This project confused me, I used to follow this project closely about 10 years ago. Initially the so called Phase 2 actually had MORE progress than Phase 1. Then suddenly it faded to the background. Where exactly did construction stop in that area?

The project around those places are different. There is a total reconstruction of the Lagos-Badagry Expressway from 4 lanes to 10 lanes, Construction of Interchanges and access roads etc. The right of way for the rail was just created from mile 2 to Okokomaiko only the dedicated BRT lane was constructed with the reconstruction of the expressway. The construction of the Phase 2 is just starting.

@@Southernview3kDo you know how many markets are in Lagos? Every district has more than one market and several other local markets scattered every where. The Lagos State government is doing well. Go to Tejuosho market they refuse to stay inside the market, they go outside blocking the roads hussling customers. Our people need discipline to act orderly.

@@lagosian123 Government should do the needful by pulling people of the street, most especially people selling consumable food stuffs. In South Africa, government provided a stand behind the street sidewalk where people display snacks and they pay to the government per week. Each street can have about 5 stand a bit distant separated from each other. The only problem Nigeria have is infrastructure to place street stand.

Constructions everywhere yet Nigerians are crying of " no jobs" and "unemployment is high to the heavens". Where else can work be created faster than in road construction and rehabilitation? I don't get why there are still a lot of noises about high rate of unemployment when people can easily make earns meet with working at any of these construction sites. All they want to do is be on their phones and eat point and kill. Nonsense 🙈
