La Traviata (comedy spoof) Rita Hunter, soprano on The Ronnie Corbett Special 1979
All I can say about this is that it was one of the funniest afternoons our family ever had the honour of being a part of. It took the best part of 5 hours to get the last bit recorded. There was much laughter and Rita recalled this happy and hilarious afternoon with much love, until the day she passed away.

Gloriously funny and gloriously sung! Some pretty deft coloratura from the great Rita Hunter.
This is priceless! Best of all worlds. I never knew she did this with Ronnie. This is what happens when two geniuses come together. They marvellously occupy the same space and give us gold ❤
Miss Hunter came to Australia and sang a fair amount of Wagner here for Australian Opera, as it was before it changed its name to Opera Australia. One of my fondest memories was sitting in the front row of Sydney Concert Hall with Rita on the front of the stage and the huge Wagnerian orchestra behind here. Her might and artistry were unforgettable!

She was the soprano in the Verdi Requiem with the SSO in St Mary's Cathedral around this time
"On my breast!" So much comedic gold!! An unforgettable performance from Rita!
Brilliant! Everything she did always had the same high level of commitment - from Richard Wagner to Ronnie Corbett! A true and great artist!
I can't believe how gorgeously sweet she can make her voice for the piece. Just so amazingly versatile, she can honestly sing anything. What a pleasure this was to listen to! Happy Channel Anniversary!

Astounding what she could do with that a voice that big! And the only thing nearly as funny as this, is Miss Piggy and Pig singing "La ci darem" in Wagnerian dress. Thanks for making my day.

Actually, her costume is from Don Carlos :D The only change that she made to it was the headpiece. Mum insisted that the head piece was right on top of her head to make it look even more ridiculous :D
