    I don't know if this was the point of the segment, but it felt like a First Take debate, which I personally loathe. It's a SPANISH DOMESTIC league. It doesn't have to have games in the US.The whole point is to have the games played IN Spain. How could American commentators even be in favor of this after what happened to the Coyotes in hockey? Stop putting the lifeblood of the product, the fans, last.

    To further Herc's point on our leagues going abroad, the NFL, for example, is fundamentally different than LA Liga in that respect because you're not just showcasing a league, but a sport itself. Do the Jaguars really step on anyone's toes locally by playing in London? No, because (respectfully) the London Warriors probably need them more than vice versa. Here, on top of all of his points, you're grossly handicapping local sides (especially minor league ones). Upstate SC doesn't need more Alaves fans. It needs more Triumph and Liberty fans. Charleston doesn't need more Almeria fans. It needs more Battery fans.

The Astros are struggling right now and have only had a handful of days off. They have a day off today for travel from Chicago to Mexico, and will play there over the weekend.

    Seb is so far off the mark here it's actually impressive. If La Liga were to introduce a 39th game - the PL had this type of idea previously - where that would be a "neutral" site game in the United States, maybe we can talk. Don't confuse that with me giving a personal endorsement of the idea, but that idea would at least mean that no La Liga side ends up losing a home game because of this. (Because, as Herc points out, it's not gonna be Real Madrid or Barcelona losing a home game to facilitate this.) That at least involves some kind of fairness. Seb just saying "who cares about Getafe fans?" (or, I presume, fans of any Getafe-sized club in La Liga, so you could use Rayo, Celta, Cádiz, whichever club floats your boat) borders on being appalling. Fans of those teams are no less legitimate than fans of any other club or team in the world. They're actually more impressive in many ways because they don't flock to the Madrid's or Barcelona's of the world, clubs that are very easy to support if you want to. (I'm not a Madrid supporter but, on the topic of Madrid vs. Barcelona, give me Madrid every single time. I do assume a lot of Spaniards who support other clubs have their own opinion on that topic, but that's pure speculation.) No, taking away other team's home games, the atmosphere for those games, the economic impacts locally felt whenever Barcelona or Real Madrid come to town, that's atrocious, I can't believe Seb is ok with that. All for selfish media interests. Dude, you're just wrong about this, plain and simple.

    Hilarious. Every so often when a La Liga team beats a non-La Liga team in the UCL they take to the comments sections and proclaim that is exhibit "A" of evidence that La Liga is a superior league and the bias of the media of the other leagues. And yet in reality, La Liga is desperate to expand into the US market b/c they know their product pales in comparison to the EPL is way off the mark. EPL dominates both in quality, strength of the teams, world viewership and media financial deals. More people in the US watch the EPL than MLS. La Liga wants to try and get in on that b/c they know they have an poor product at best. La Liga...who cares.

    The cost of the tickets for such a game will be almost equivalent to what you would need if you flew to Spain and then watched the game. As ridiculous as it might sound, big clubs like Real Madrid will want to recover all the cost of a sold out stadium, food and beverage sales and merchandise sales which is lost because of the home match sold to the US. So Real Madrid themselves will ask for all that money which will be recovered from the audience coming to watch the games. Beyond that the organizing company and stadium will also try to make some profit so that cost will also be added in tickets as well as food. Also just the appeal of a club like real madrid means the third party agents will purchase the tickets before hand and the black market price of the tickets will be beyond the imagination of fans like you. Say if you are a fan of a smaller team. It won't have that many fans. The games might pull crowds for the first few games but that too will wear off and all we will see will be empty stadiums which don't make sense for organizers, the club or the host stadiums. So realistically as a fan of a La Liga team, this makes no sense for you.

  • @antobannister93

    'mate, have you ever seen the ticket prices for Real Madrid pre-season games held in the USA? You might actually be better off booking a roundtrip to Madrid and going to the Bernabéu than trying to get tickets to a game here. (I see the other response to this comment actually made the same point; I didn't read before writing that.) Those pre-season Clásicos are four digit costs, minimum. Believe me, the value for your buck isn't going any further here, and it'll be even worse for an actual La Liga-sanctioned game because that'll be factored into the ticket price mark-up that's bound to happen as well.

  • @antobannister93

    @antobannister93

    @@tejassurve5499 Only one thing - Real Madrid isn't going to be the ones sacrificing a home game. They'll never play fewer than 19 games at the Bernabéu in a La Liga campaign, not unless they reduce the league to 18 teams or something. The lost stadium revenue is coming from whichever poor opponent gets handpicked to lose their home game against Real Madrid and have to play their "home" game against an entirely pro-Madrid crowd. (You can plug in Barcelona each time I said Real Madrid if you want, no difference in their case.) You can only hope that the revenue distribution would allow for some kind of allowance for the opponent to get an equivalent revenue that they would've otherwise had, but somehow I doubt it.

    You’re better off going to Europe mate and catching a Real Madrid game there. Depending on where you live at, you probably would spend almost a similar amount of money going to Madrid and watching a game at the bernabeu than going to whatever city Real Madrid would play say Barca, Sevilla, etc. Watching Madrid here won’t have that same feel or impact as it will in Madrid. It’ll be too corporatized and won’t get that authentic feeling. I recommend looking at said date that isn’t a fifa international break in the future , save up money(, save little by little if you have to) it’ll be worth it once you do

    The amount of games they’re playing has increased by a lot and only a 3 week summer break really isn’t a lot of time to fully recover for another 11 month grind. There are many factors. To why, tv companies/fifa/confederations keep expanding competitions for more money. Managers systems/ training demands are more demanding on human body than ever. , amount of games by fifa, uefa, etc. managers refusing to rotate and not using all 5 subs. Players not owning up and saying they need a break. Players could retire from international footy. There’s no clear cut solution but the tv money is how the players really earn their salaries. Unless the players will take a pay cut and will play less games, they’ll play victim and not provide solutions
