Kyosho Beetle Brushless Speed Test and Bash! RC VW Beetle Buggy put to the test!

Hi all. Well my brushless Kyosho seems fast but how fast is it? Well you'll have to watch this to find out! Also in this video are many, many jumps and slightly ruining the body shell. I'm sure it can all be put right. Thanks again to Peter Smith for getting me this lovely kit and thanks to everyone else for watching. Please like and comment and all that :-)

Hi there. Yeah with the chassis it's just the main rails that can end up bent if you nose dive it enough. The body was almost turning inside out with some of the landings so I can forgive the paint falling off! I'm going to re-do the speed test because it does seem quicker than the indicated speed. Many thanks for watching :-)

Great video Pete buddy , I got to be honest that seems like fun at that speed . As you said mind still fast for that little buggy . I have to say at the moment I'm preferring the Kyosho kits over tamiya . Just a personalized preference. Hey on another note , those shock tower plates you made for the Arrma 3s trucks do you make them as I'm rubbish with metal myself , could do with some for my Heavily upgraded Big rock v3. Hi there. Yeah I'm starting to wonder if my speed GPS got broken in one of the many crashes I had during the speed test. Looked like it was going 40mph at least. These kits are really nice quality for sure. With the Arrma tower brace I don't really want to get into making them for sale as I don't enjoy the process that much. I have seen proper alu upgrade parts available for these so maybe check those out. Many thanks indeed for your watching and your comments 😁👍

Well you proved one thing, Pete, this Kyosho is tough! No way would a Blitzer Beetle take that abuse without flying into a thousand parts! But mate, 5000mph scale speed is far too much for a 1/10 RC buggy. I know I'm right 'cause I checked out a video about you and used the guys maths. 🤣🤣 Anyway, very entertaining footage of a smashing car from Peter Smith! I'd put a fast brushed motor in it and save that lovely body! All the best my mate and hope your Sunday was a good 'un! 😎😎👌👌👍👍

Hiya mate. Oh yeah I broke my Blitzer Beetle with much less than this. The only issue (apart from the body) was a suspension grub screw coming a bit loose despite the threadlock on everything. Oh yeah to be scale this should be going about 4mph 😂 I'm going to see how this is with the current configuration on the flat sand when the tide is out. I'm thinking it will be great like the Wild One. Yeah great Sunday here thanks. No RC but a walk and a couple of pubs so can't be bad. Hope you had a good one too. Need to check the group chat. Oh, man, it's fast! I have the low gearing in mine, but I don't even think with higher gearing mine will be that fast... But still fast enough to take some tumbles, ha ha! The paint sticks fine on mine, still, also after a lot of roof landings, but I used airbrush paints on mine, plus I reinforced with fiberglass tape and Shoegoo, so that probably helped it stick, so far...

Seriously cool looking buggy buddy ! I went out to the shed earlier this year to find my batteries have faults and don’t work, they were nimh , so it maybe time to move on, I have only a few tamiyas, they mostly have the cheap hobby wing esc as I do like to get em wet, what would you say is the best and most practical brushless set up and lipo for tamiya, I’m guessing 2 cell looks the right size, i was just wondering if you could recommend a brand that you have found fits well in tamiyas, I have a FAV, a lunchbox and a hopper, any advice will be much appreciated 👍

  • @PeteWylieRC

Hi there. Pretty much all of my Tamiyas have the Absima Thrust BL eco motor/esc combo and not had any go wrong yet. Also a few have the Robitronic Razer Ten combo which is possibly a bit smoother and again I've had no issues. For the battery I use the Gartpot 2s 4000mah rounded pack which fits in all the Tamiyas other than really old ones like the Sand Scorcher. For that I have the shorty lipo pack. That will also fit your FAV. I made a video about that which shows what I did. Oh also the Lunchbox with a little mod although you can use the rounded ones in that if you don't mind that they are more visible. Hope this helps. Many thanks for watching the video 😁👍

Hi there. No I've not found a shell like the Beetle as it's slightly an odd shape compared to a Sand Scorcher or whatever. Kamtec make a Scorpion shell that should fit this as they are essentially the same car. Would need the rear wing support though. I don't know if you already have one but I would go with the Turbo Scorpion out of the Kyosho re-releases. Handles better and looks fantastic 👍👍
