Lived there in the 80’s as a kid and went to George Seitz with Mr. Adair and Mrs. Davis as my teachers. Truly blessed to have been able to live the island life there. Best place bar none to grow up as a kid. Played little league baseball for eagles and Stanford soccer team. I’ll try to get a job there someday.

2006-2008 Had a great time there. The people were the best, hard working, and loved to play. Diving, fishing...what a treasure trove of memories I have.

One of my best memories is when they moved the international date line. I and the rest of my family have a no day in our lives. Anyone else out there like that???

My parents and oldest sister lived there in the 66-68 timeframe. My father worked for MIT Lincoln Labs and was working on technology to differentiate inbound ICBMs between warhead and decoy. He took a DC3 to work everyday, to a different island in the chain...

Todd - I think I knew your sister. Martin Eastburn - Kwaj High 63-65 My father was Design Director for Transmitters. Zar, Par, etc. He spent 11+ years there with mom and the family. We had bicycles with our last name on the fender.

Great video. Thanks for making. I met a couple who lived on Kwaj many years ago on my first trip to the Orient (as it was called then). I always wondered what it looked like.

Worked for JCWS from '90-'95. Good times! Windsurfing, Diving, Tennis, ICBMs, MIRVs, OPSEC, Brand X, Hueys from Meck Island over the coral and blue waters, got to wake up the JCWS Project Site Manager at 2 am while he was TDY stateside when filling in for the IT Site Manager on the island!!! Rusty bikes, waiting for the Barge shipments, where Macy's is NOT Macy's, 10-10 is no substitute for 7-11! Kwaj T Shirts, Beach Parties, PDR STock Tips, Good times!

Hopefully I can go to Kwaj in my lifetime, such a beautiful and peaceful place, Paradise as we call it. thanks for the upload I cannot find the right words to describe this place, I am in awe :) :) :)

Live on Kwaj and worked on Roi . Met a lot of great people there work was good too. Best work assignment I had and my wife and children still talk about living there.

I lived here in 1957 - I was just a little girl - I'll always have special memories.

We were there for 9 months. I remember coming back to the states in March of 1958. I was in 4th grade. We must have just missed each other. It was a wonderful place to have memories of. I remember our family going out on the captain's yacht and going by the island Ebeye. The islanders were funny ladies. We had one for a maid in our house. She used to look at the Sears catalog and laugh at the women.

We also had a housekeeper. Her name was Tateena (sp?) I have posted some memories in the comments on another Kwaj video. If you would like, I'll post either a link to them or copy and paste them here for you. There is lady on another site I just made contact with who was there when I was and may have even had my mother as her teacher, as she taught a few grades besides being the principal. I went to 1st and 2nd grade there. You would have been one grade ahead of me in 57. Three room school so we would have met, even if it wasn't such a small island.

Love this place!

My family and I lived there on a 4 year tour and we left around 10 years ago. So many memories :)

Wow! Beautiful! Now show its neighboring islands like ebeye. 50 plus thousands locals all cramped up in a 2 and half acres of land. Constant power outages. Inadequate fresh clean water supply. Constant sewage problems.

Is there anything else that you need to be there?Yes...Is such like back home.... Beautiful people....

I loved my week there when my husband went over with the military for a week. A beautiful paradise and wanted him to apply for a tour except I found out you could only have one dog and I had 3 dachshunds. I couldn't leave them stateside or take one and leave two. The donuts were delicious and the water was so clear. So far the most beautiful place I have been!

Lucky you. We had many stories of wives being sold on how great it was, and taking one look from the stairs of the plane and saying "hell no!" and they, and their husband, being on the next plane out!

I used to live there I sure miss it. 😥

My father was the Supply Officer of the island in 1956...I was 10...my brother 7....what an amazing adventure!!

Checking this video, potential job offer to Kwaj. Anyone know the name of the song/artist. Its awesome. I love island music.

I worked as Power Plant Electrician for several years on Kwaj & Carlos back in early 90's. Many trips to Roi & every island that required generators. Also spent days camping on uninhabited island thanks to my Marshallese friends. Sad to hear Kwaj is going to hell. I know the Yuk Club closed down.... is the Snake Pit still open?

The video is about the island of Kwajalein so why would they show Ebeye?

That's the old good Kwaj, the current Kwaj is falling apart, dirty, rusting and getting sadder by the week. No maintenance being done, lots of trash about. Really, really sad to see it going to pot as it is.

True island life - life slows down truly for introspection, making all the rat race really distant.

I remember all of these locations and I think I'm in one of the pics I no longer live there though.

I left in 1992 after living there for 2.5 years. A lot of it looks exactly the same. Got a heavy heart now. I was so young then!!! I have certainly changed!

I was managing PC Support there when you were there... Hired a trainer, built the classroom, hired a network engineer for first network and servers, was there '90-'95...

Does anyone know who does this music and singing? Its such a cool tune. My phone apps can't identify it. It may be local artists. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you Update.....7/25/18. I found the music!

No. You have to have a job there, it’s a U.S. military garrison. You can’t even visit without having a resident sponsor you.

@Captain Brandon Horror Film Lover - not really, I worked there 5 years. Find out who the logistics contractor is and apply with them. They employ everyone from janitors, carpenters, vehicle maintenance, building maintenance, HVAC, teachers, medical - everything needed to run a small town out in the middle of the ocean. It is an amazing place if you don't need all the trappings of malls and such...

@Captain Brandon Horror Film Lover - Yes, when I was there, it was catalogs, but today, just the Internet. I once had a massive keyboard shipped from Musicians Friend in CA in ONE DAY! But that was some miraculous bit of "oh, we were about to close the door, but OK, we'll put that on and go..." Here's who it appears has the contracts now, but it doesn't mention all the support stuff, so there may be a third.
