Kwajalein orientation

Kwajalein orientation video given to recruits and new-hires. Judging by the inclusion of the 1994/95 Super Bowl video, this must have been made after January 1995.

Worked for Global Associates in the hospital and also was the medic on Illeginni during construction . That was from 1970-72. Then returned 2 1/2 years later and spent another 5 years on Kwaj. Lots of memories. Not a week goes by when I don't think of my time there...even 50 years later!!!

Brings back memories of being there '90-'95 in charge of PC support. Singlehandedly published one edition of the Hourglass on my PC when all the Macs were down for the staff! Hired the trainer and built the networked PC classroom. Great memories of awesome times there...

This information was current in 2001 when Raytheon produced this video. But the current contractor (KRS) have cut back on many of the amenities. It is still a great place to live and work but it's far less "rosy" then this video shows.

This was a recruitment video produced by Raytheon. The reason you see the 95 Superbowl is that is when the information was current. Many things have changed over the last 18 years. Budget cuts have taken their toll. It is really sad.

I was ousted so that Raytheon could make this video. I worked for JCWS ('90-'95) prior to Raytheon getting the contract, after the contesting of the award was settled by the GAO: we protested, as our contract was lower dollar, and we got a few months extension as it was reviewed. Raytheon came is as robber barons after winning a war: most all management got a token interview to keep our jobs. Seem to recall the guy doing his nails while he asked me a couple questions. They brought in all new management, expanded the number of managers, doing so by cutting pay and benefits for the workers including cutting 3 weeks vacation to 2 weeks. I know they cut the pay, because one of my best friends has been there all his life, having gone to high school there with his dad working there, then got into IT and is in charge of the Payroll system, so was the first person hired in every contract changeover, so that they could smoothly point the payroll system to their corporate systems. He got to see the pay rates for everyone. Sad days. I saw the end of the great times.
