Kurt Angle On The In-Ring Intensity Of Chris Benoit
Kurt Angle is a 14-time professional wrestling world champion, with titles collected in WWE, TNA, and Japan. He is in both the WWE and TNA/Impact Hall of Fames, a two-time NCAA Division 1 National Champion, and has also won a gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the 1996 Summer Games with, as he likes to say, ‘a broken freaking neck.’ At every stop in his career, Angle has reached the top of the mountain, and now he’s taking his Three I’s; Intensity, Intelligence, and Integrity, to the podcast world as he joins host Paul Bromwell to take a look back at some of the matches, feuds and moments that turned an Olympic gold medalist into one of the greatest sports entertainers of all time. It’s True. It’s damn true

I’d say I’m privileged to be old enough to have watched Chris Benoit wrestle. He was truly like no other. The guy knew pro wrestling inside out. Every match he was in felt like it was life or death.

Such a shame. Benoit is top 3 in-ring of all time. Never a wasted movement. He perfected every style of wrestling
Kurt likes the Big Eagle Belt. Niiice. He's held some of the best looking championships over the years.
Nobody brought intensity quiet like Chris Benoit, had he not did what he done. Well he would’ve been the goat hands down, but such is life.
I'm glad we're at a point where people can comfortably talk about Benoit in the context of his work in the ring. The guy committed a horrible act but has touched and influenced the careers of so many people. I doubt Jericho's WWE career would have taken off as well as it did without his intense on/off feud with Benoit, and the matches he had with Angle brought about the first signs of change in the main event from the big muscled talents to small, quicker technical workers.

@@mandya.8203 disagree, rewatch his matches with HBK over the years, particularly their one at Mania X9, it is an understated gem, a throwback to Ricky and Randy. While Kurt doesn't really need Benoit to have a great catalogue of some of wrestling's best matches, it is still a shame that Benoit's body of work is forever blacklisted, because his matches with Angle in particular might be Angle's best, my personal favorite is still his match with HBK in WM21, but Angle vs Benoit in RR 2003 sure gives it a run for its money.

Watched a lot of WWF/WWE as a kid. Got really into the Benoit story, pre-rumble until he ruined everything. As an adult it's nice to know that Benoit was a good worker as well as that underdog story.

Quite the rabbit hole. Did you find anything remotely believable?

@@bassacoustic1549 Chavo says he called Chris Benoit first when Eddie died. In another interview he says he got a call from Benoit, after others had called him. Eddies death was portrayed on smackdown and SvR. The whole "Burke" aspect and cm punk/nitro/Sullivan numerology is REALLY eerie. But idk what to believe
@bassacoustic1549
Жыл бұрын
@@LINKMASTERX I haven’t come across a lot of that, I’ve only really scratched the surface myself. I personally think Chavo knows a bit more than he lets on. Probably more details from the phone calls that he feels would put Benoit in an even worse light. Hardcore Holly says he spoke to Benoit around the day he killed Nancy and apparently Benoit sounded furious and said she was acting like Hitler. To me I think it was an aggressive husband who had drank too much (people say he had a dark side when he’d been drinking), everything had kicked off between them and he totally lost it. Then when the realisation set on of the situation he was in, he had the presence of mind to drug his son for a tragic mercy (in Benoit’s mind) killing. Researching flights to the PPV with the bodies in the house is one of the most bizarre things I’ve ever read, but I guess maybe he was considering trying to get away with it and make out it was someone else, who knows. Then when he realised he was totally cornered, had destroyed everything and was going to jail, he bailed out. Grim stuff. I personally don’t believe the conspiracies and think that’s what went down. CTE and steroids may well have played a role in his being impulsive and irrational, but he was still pretty high functioning by the sounds of it so I do think fans and wrestlers go easy on him at times..... there’s an element of an “excuse” given his apparent brain issues but it’s just so outrageous what he did. The way all 3 deaths were spaced out over multiple days doesn’t really paint it as a roid rage blackout killing spree.

@@bassacoustic1549 "Con-spira-series" is the channel I just found. I've been a fan since 2005 but this guy actually has done a good amount of research and has some really good connections. I'm someone who has friends who taught me to look at the logical side of life and that most conspiracies take too much effort/cooperation to even exist. But there are some numerical things about the events and Benoit's last opponents that just seem WAY too coincidental. "Burke, Punk sharing birthday w K. Sullivan (his last scheduled opponent), johnny nitro replaced him (Sullivan was booker of WcW and Nitro when all the divorce stuff occured). His last ppv and tv opponents both have the name "Burke"... Burke's definition is appropriate for what occured here...dude, maybe it's the craziest coincidence ever but it's just too much to ignore

It is definitely a deep rabbit hole. One that I found eery was that on Wikipedia they announced Nancy Benoit’s death on Friday, two days before the actual tragedy I just know there’s way more to the story than what the media says, just a shame we’ll never learn the truth
the 1998-2002 WWF Championship was the best
If ONLY Benoit hadn’t snapped he would have passed away due to an enlarged heart 10 months later and we’d praise his legacy and his most importantly his family would still be here 😭

I’m not sure if he could’ve or if he just didn’t want to. He was supposedly trying to pay off his family from a previous marriage and was also trying to support his current one at the time.
