Kurt Angle on his Wrestlemania X7 match with Chris Benoit

Kurt Angle is a 14-time professional wrestling world champion, with titles collected in WWE, TNA, and Japan. He is in both the WWE and TNA/Impact Hall of Fames, a two-time NCAA Division 1 National Champion, and has also won a gold medal in freestyle wrestling at the 1996 Summer Games with, as he likes to say, ‘a broken freaking neck.’ At every stop in his career, Angle has reached the top of the mountain, and now he’s taking his Three I’s; Intensity, Intelligence, and Integrity, to the podcast world as he joins host Conrad Thompson to take a look back at some of the matches, feuds and moments that turned an Olympic gold medalist into one of the greatest sports entertainers of all time. It’s True. It’s damn true

@@ssssssstssssssss CTE wasn’t the sole reason. Sure, if he didn’t have it, maybe he wouldn’t have done it but the doesn’t take away the other stuff going on in his life in his last years. He still had close friends dying which may or may not lead to him drinking and how they affected his marriage. He was still doing drugs but we don’t know if he would’ve stopped had his brain been healthy That’s still speculation. Would he have done if he had but his life was going well for him? I don’t think so. A lot of the factors aren’t speculation. The factors were depression from close friends dying, failing marriage, drinking, drug abuse, pressure of being a top guy again, a rigorous wrestling schedule(this would have to include traveling schedules and keeping his body up), his body catching up to him which means he can’t perform as well anymore and would lead him to take performance enhancing drugs, and then the CTE. Then the factor that of him killing his son has to have been because he just realized that he murdered his wife.

@T West I’m still a huge Benoit fan and I really wish he was innocent but it all points to him. There is no proof that someone else besides Benoit doing it. The “evidence” people use to prove his “innocence” are either not true or don’t prove someone else did it. People just don’t want to believe that someone that they thought they knew or really liked would be capable of doing something so terrible. There are so many factors as to why he could’ve done it and those aren’t speculation.

That’s why Angle/Michaels wrestle mania match was off the chain! It was such a slow burn where they set the story up and started off at a slower pace and building it to a fever pitch. I miss when wrestling was actually wrestling.

18:00 this is whats lost in wrestling today. he mentions how benoit never hit you but he looked like he did. he looked brutal with his strikes that never hit you, he made it look as real as possible which other guys in todays day just dont do

He reads Dave Meltzer because generally neither Conrad nor most of the people he does programs with remember much about these events. And they are not interested in re-watching the matches.

the BEST ref bump i've ever seen was in Hart V Steamboat. It was a dark match but THANK GOD the still filmed it. An absolute classic that any self respecting fan needs to watch. You can find it on YT. But I agree with Kurt, most ref bumps are bad and I don't like them.

This is why it's impossible to not talk about Benoit. To many guys had to many great matches with him. Some of the best matches ever. Angle being the most obvious as they were great together. It's just not fair to Angle to try and erase his best performances. It's the same for a lot of other guys.

The heel that can wrestle but cheats reminds me of those videos about speedrunners who cheat. Many top competitors still cheat to win not because they cannot win, but because they feel entitled to a win. Their mindset is "I'm the best, so I deserve a W and I'm gonna get it one way or another"

Angle vs HBK at Wrestlemania 20 was my favorite. Benoit could turn any sack of potatos into something special, but i prefer the match with the heartbreak kid because of the interaction with the crowd and the 100 close falls.

@P1 Styles that’s ridiculous . It had nothing to do with race, this is a prime case of CTE and the things that occur when you don’t seek help. Very similar to the Benoit case.
