Kubota L3010 Head Gasket Replacement & Reassembly D1503-e - EP 193

We replace and reassemble a Kubota L3010 Head gasket D1503-e engine.
This week a good friend of ours needed to replace the head gasket on his Kubota L3010, with a D1503-e engine. This tractor is very similar to our L3300 and we were happy to help and document. At the recording of this video there are no videos on replacing the head gasket on this particular tractor. (There are several on Kubota 3 cylinder diesel engines.)
We discuss wrenches needed, torque specs and the process for reassembly. Hopefully you learn something new and can provide feedback for others.

A dream that has grown for generations. Our families have farmed or gardened in SC since the 1700’s. Dean Family Acres was established in 2013 and expanded in 2016, we strive to be “Real People, Real Homesteading.” We are on 5 acres in the Upstate of SC, zone 8a where we garden and grow fruits like muscadines, thornless blackberries, blueberries, figs, pears, and persimmons. We also have chickens, cats, dogs, and a rabbit. We enjoy landscaping projects and trips off the farm with our family of 6. Good running motor. I had a 3 cylinder Volvo diesel in my boat. Super economical to run. Took a while to get there, but I always did.

@@DeanFamilyAcres Yeah it was. Ranger Tug 21-EC. Unfortunately Ranger Tugs quit making that hull. More demand for outboard equipped boats.

@@Z-Bart Ranger Tug is very nice boat. 💵 I would love to do the Great Loop one day. Maybe a retirement trip, we shall see if it materializes.

@@DeanFamilyAcres My boat lived on Lake Superior. Way too short of a boating season. I sold her a couple years ago.

I did this a few months ago to a tractor that I bought knowing it needed a head. After I got it together I filled it with oil and antifreeze and the antifreeze went straight to the oil… there’s a freeze plug inside the front timing cover that popped. Had to break the tractor in half to get the cover off… got it together today finally and it won’t start. I’ve never heard this tractor run. I don’t think it’s getting any fuel! Absolutely disgusted.

Oh man, buying other’s projects can be a good deal or a nightmare. Was there anyway to check that freeze plug without splitting the case? Be sure to give us an update when you get it figured out. Others might have a similar issue.

@@DeanFamilyAcres No it was definitely the plug or a big hole in the block. The bottom two bolts of the engine cover were under the edge of the frame so it had to be taken off. The case wasn’t split. Sorry. The front half of the tractor. Frame and axle.
