You are a mature rider who is very gentle with your motorcycle, getting 36 kilometers average per liter is impressive. I think the average for KTM 390 is around 24. Being gentle has so many advantages brakes, tires, engine, chain will last a lot longer and the added benefit of lowering your chance of getting into an accident. Happy Riding.

Very nice review. I made the decision to buy ADV 390 in 2021 after seeing motoccino's reviews of the bike. After almost 2 years of modding it, I've become very comfortable with that bike, but your praise for the 2023 version has made me anxious to go get a test drive. Also, any plans to upload a FuelX installation DIY video on this bike? I've been planning to get one for a long time..

And is the rear top rack has bolting point on the chasis/frame of the bike? You have really modified and updated the bike as per your taste and it looks amazing. Eagerly waiting for the front suspension upgrade.

Hey! I see you've got your KTM registered in PY (Pondicherry), but you live in Bengaluru. I compared the road taxes and the OTR price difference between KA and PY, it's quite huge. Here, in KA, we'll get it for about ~4.4L while in PY, it might be lesser. In Chennai(TN) it's costing about ~4.1L. So, I believe it'll be about 20k-30k lesser in PY, compared to KA. How did you go about getting it registered there?

@@madhuhs348 no problem. By the way, one of the challenges, but a big one, with spoke wheels "with tubes" is that you need to dismantle the entire wheel to fix a puncture, which necessitates an expert who knows what all sensors are there in today's wheels. Generally, the small puncture repair shops can mess up the ABS Sensing ring, if they bend it and all. This causes erratic ABS behaviour, that is, it may activate 'Anti-lock' and you'll not be able to press in the brake levers effectively, causing poor braking action. So, if this job is done correctly, you should be fine. Secondly, wire spoke wheels need to be balanced. The wheel hubs "suspend" the rim using the spoke's tension (like a string or rope being pulled, stretched and tied down to hold something). There are small nuts that are used to tighten or loosen every spoke that is connecting the hub and the rim. You must have seen some wheels getting this job done on that wheel balancing jig at numerous mechanic workshops. This is done to make sure the wheel turns true, that is freely and smoothly without any lateral wobble into it. It should not also be weight biased. That is, if the hub is not perfectly (as humanly possible) in the centre of the rim, if you rotate the wheel, it'll rotate, then slow down naturally due to friction, and come to rest in the position where it's the heaviest, as the hub will be lower (slightly towards the ground, if visualised vertically). So, this becomes an time taking and expensive maintenance item, again should be done by an expert. These jobs are a very common practices done by motocross teams as they have expert mechanics, and if there's a requirement. Hero Xpulse and RE Himalayan comes with spoke wheels. Heck even Triumph Tiger 800 XcX (older), Older Honda Africa Twin CRF1000L, etc came with wire spoke wheels and Tube tyres. But this were designed ground up and focused to be off-road biased ADVs. Even though I too really really like the KTM ADV 390, it is NOT off-road biased. Mr Vinay Motovin77 mentions about front Forks bottoming out (running out of suspension travel), when going Off-road in it's current state. So, if the new model comes with spoked wheels, you'll still have the problem with the current suspension. If KTM provides a different type of suspension, adjustable or something else more focused on off-road, it'll then make more sense to consider that specific model, if your requirement is to go off-roads. And, if you primarily go off-roads, then only it'll make sense. In my opinion, just going for spoke wheels will not solve the off-roading challenges of KTM ADV 390. It needs suspension upgrades too. And I've known a person who also has KTM 390 ADV (2019 version), and he has raised the front suspension, by adding a cartridge. He's using the stock 12 spoke Alloy wheels, and as per him, it's working alright for him. Another thing. The current ADV 390 is a tested product and has worked even in toughest parts of Leh-Ladakh. So, alloy wheels might be fine for most of the riding. I've also known that some people going to Ladakh, who ride other bikes, carry a tube that fits in their luggage, even for their tubeless tyres. So, it may or may not make a ton of difference, as it comes down to rider skill in the end. If KTM launches wire spoke wheels with tubeless tyres, it'll be easy to repair punctures, as tubeless tyres are slightly thicker making them ever so slightly more robust against punctures, BUT, I believe the wheel alignment/balancing will still need to be done on a regular basis (the frequency will be in several months though). Spoke wheels will result in a smoother ride, but the alloys are still good for moderate off-roading, as that friend who owns another KTM ADV 390 has taken it off-road quite often. He's done a few Off-road schools on it. Wheels don't pose a problem to him. The Suspension might cause challenges in that environment or more difficult or extreme environment. So keep that in mind. You may also need to maintain and service the suspension more often, raise it, change fork oil to a thicker one or something. There are workarounds. "Pick your poison" (whenever the option will be available in India). But trust me, you'll not regret either option.

@@gopalprasadpatel270 I'm also on the same boat. Recently I had a chance to ride Adv 390 (2022 model) for about 80kms on Bangalore Hubli highway. I'm not impressed, infact quite disappointed with the engine. It vibrates, and somehow I'm not able to connect with that bike. I've ridden this bike for about 50kms on a single road too in the past, again not a positive response given its lack of response at low speed/rpms. Only area where this bike exceeds expectations is its power! It can pull you effortlessly. See my earlier comment to this video, I had almost finalised adv 390 (preferably SW if and when they launch). However my first hand experience on this recent recent ride made me completely drop this bike from my bucket list. I seriously don't understand how you claim there is no stalling out low end issue.. I see you installing feulx what purpose does that provide if you don't have any such issue💀

Seriously I never faced this issue its been a month i bought the 390...the bike does 35kmph in 3rd gear without stalling... never installed fuelx

Further to above experience from another owner of the 2023 model, stalling and low end is an issue of the past. I put fuelx to as I have stock replacement performance air filter and take advantage of maps to optimise further.

@@user-gt9vv8rh5v Actually never, it always starts in a single press. Post which I idle it for 3 min before I engage gears. You may want to check your air filter/ intake and fuel filter.
