KTLA news opens
This video features various news and talent opens from KTLA in Los Angeles from c. 1955 to present.
This is a reupload of the very first compilation I ever put up on this channel, originally uploaded on October 24, 2013; it was revised to a couple of additional talent intros and includes a few cold opens. As I mentioned when this was first uploaded, all of the videos were made using a video converter (more specifically, the Freemake Video Converter) and all of the clips included here and in the other compilations were originally uploaded by other KZread users (such as NewsActive3, DontrylAlexander and others) under fair use guidelines.

I'm so glad somebody pointed this out to me. I was a director at KTLA News in the '80s. I'd love to see our opens from back then.
Back in the days I remember watching news casters Hal Fishman & Larry McCormick. I used to watch Ktla 10 o'clock news from San Diego.

Frame 6:15 intro this is the one i remember the most. I forgot about the plane flying towards the buildings which is now strange when you look back after 9/11

Keith Olbermann is now doing a podcast here on KZread. KTLA News at Ten was so good back in the 1980s. RIP Hal Fishman.
Thanks for putting this together, it brings back so many good memories watching KTLA 5 news in the 80s. Hal Fishman turned me into a news junkie and I'm telling you that's all I ever watch. This is great !!
I wish there were classic news broadcasts of ktla from in between 1996 to 2001. 1997 was the first year that I watched Ktla at just 3 years old.
Thanks for uploading this. The one I lked the most was 1997-2003 I liked the visual style, the white space, the colours, and the lighter tone.
News anchor Hal Fishman, on air from 1960-2007 passed in 2007 Los Angeles at 75.

Larry McCormick passed shortly after that. Stan Chambers died a few years ago.

Where are they now i used to watch this news back in the 90's.
Back when Gene Autry owned the station and it was consistent and good! I always knew the Sports segment would be on at 10:45pm so I could see all the Baseball scores of the day.
Brings back so many good memories from the late 80s and 90s I remember being at my older brothers apartment watching Hal Fishman at 10pm in Orange County I loved watching the news,thanks so much for posting this.
SuperPat, I did hear that song used on a Texas station's newscast. The song is currently used by WPVI-TV in Philadelphia.

Is that at 1:10 "The Original Action News Theme," which in Texas was used by KDFW Dallas/Ft. Worth, and which preceded "Move Closer To Your World" on WPVI. It was also used by KSTP Minneapolis/St. Paul and WWL New Orleans, among others.

@@gregsells8549 WPVI tried a new version of. MCTYW once. The new orchestral version lasted less than a week because the viewers melted the switchboard with complaints.
KTLA, the West Coast flagship station of the CW Television Network in Los Angeles CA, is owned and operated by Nexstar Media Group. KTLA is the sister station to Fox affiliates KSWB in San Diego and KTXL in Sacramento, MyNetworkTV affiliate KRON in San Francisco, NBC affiliate KGET and Telemundo affiliate KKEY in Bakersfield and NBC affiliate KSEE and CBS affiliate KGPE in Fresno. CA
Better than NBC, I have been watching channel 5 for many years now.

Before it was just KTLA News and now since 2009 it is now known as KTLA 5 News just as it should of been before 2009.
Love the old opens!

I remembered that in the 90s ktla 5 beat kttv and the network morning news shows.
6:00 So, this is what Ed Arnold did beside being the long-time announcer for the "Hour of Power" on Sunday mornings. He was a sportscaster.

As I remember, he also spent some time at KABC ( I don't remember how long, or if it was before his time at KTLA).
14:10 I remember that. That’s the 1st newscast with new set and graphics.
As I remember, Barney Morris eventually went to KABC.
I wonder: Did KTLA, or any of the Los-Angeles-area TV stations, use Al Ham's "Move Closer To Your World" for their news themes? Thanks.

Not that I can remember. KABC has been using the Cool Hand Luke sequence for as long as I can remember.

I came here because I was checking on George Putnam. While doing so, I saw the word, "legendary" in connection with Hal Fishman. Well, I am (was) an Angeleno, but I had never heard that name before, so I thought I would look him up. Now that I have, I STILL have no memory of him. Putnam was the legendary one. For a long time, I thought it was Putnam that Stephen Colbert was mocking. True, Putnam hadn't been in the spotlight for awhile, but I couldn't think of anyone else.
