Yes . This was Russel Crowes band “50 foot of grunt” not sure how long they lasted, but how wonderful he got to sing with the amazing Kris Kiristoffersen for this song …. Beautiful harmony ♥️

Russell has been the lead singer of bands since the 1970s. He co founded Rock Antix in New Zealand which reformed into 30 off foot of Grunt in 1992, which disbanded 2005. His current band is The Garden Party.❤

🌹Ohh wow, I have loved this song since I was a preteen. My eldest Sister received a 12-string for her 18th birthday and the first song she learned to play was "Me And Bobby McGee" and she taught me to play it when I was 12 years old (I fit in the case). That beautiful Sister was taken by brain cancer (within 9 months of being diagnosed) 7 years ago and I would trade all my tommorows for one single yesterday just to hear her play and sing "Me And Bobby McGee" again. I have always respected Kris Kristofferson and what a thrill it is to see Russell Crowe playing along, both have humanity🤲🏻galore. Lord, I needed a good cry. 💐Thanks for sharing. 🇨🇦✌🏻🎶♥️(+🇺🇦)✨🌎💫

Agree with you on that. I think Russell's voice is better quality than Kris'. Kris is good with other singers or in duets (for example with Rita Coolidge "Help me make it through the night"). He is marvelous song writer, as a solo singer not my favorite. But it's just my opinion.

Russel used to(or still has) have band and play and sing as a hobby,just like many more actors;J.Deep,B.Willis,J.Renner and many more.They are multi talented people.I'm not a musician myself and not sure if this is true what I was told but the way they singing is co call "actors sing voice"apparently different from "normal"singing voice.

@@marek9753 I agree with you, but want to add that some actors have not only so called "actors sing voice" but really good quality voices. Russell is one of them. He knows how to put his voice forth, has good timbre that resonate well andvuses all palette of sound colors plus clear articulation. He gifted with all vocal instruments that real good singer should have.

I first heard Kris sing when I bought his LP The Silver Tongued Devil and I many moons ago. It had just be published. Never looked back since then. Saw him in concert in Ireland a few times as well. So I agree with you it is sad that folks grow older. I just turned 80 last week. But I can still appreciate a good song and a great songwriter. So here’s to Kris Kristofferson 🥂❤️💚🧤

I have been a fan for nearly 50 years. When my daughter was 2 she only had three words, mama, dada and No. One morning I was playing a Kris LP. First track was Blame it on the Stones. My daughter joined in, chorus and verse, word perfect. She is now nearly 50 and hasn't stopped talking since! Thanks Kris!

I saw Some Concerts on Russell Crow Website. He Toured, Played Late Night Concert’s around 🌏. Awesome.

Unfortunately, she died shortly after recording it, and he was off touring, so never heard her rendition, until after she had passed, but he loved it. And she never lived to know what a success it was. But she wasn't even the first one to make a hit song out of it. That honor goes to Roger Miller. But undoubtedly, Janis gave the song a sound of her own!! ❤

You are right when you say Kris is a genius. He comes from a military family. He is a Rhoades "sp" scholar. Left the military went on to Oxford in England major was literature. Family disowned him for leaving the military. Flew helicopters for a living for a while. Went to Nashville worked as a janitor on music row. Landed a helicopter on Johnny cash's property. Girlfriend and I took a road trip in 72. Ended up in Nashville. Spent an evening with kris and Rita at David allen coe's apartment. They were the nicest down to earth people you could meet. Kris is very kind and respectful and very funny. Had his guitar and we all sang. My friend and I drove them to the King of the Road hotel where they were staying. What a night. Those were the days.

This was a very pleasant surprise , just happened on it totally enjoyed ... God bless these men

Saw Janis Joplin live in 1968. This was one of my favorite songs she sang that night. I am so thankful I have lived long enough to have such great memories.

Kris is one of if not the most prolific song writers! The story is that when he tried to peddle some of his songs to Nashville he was ignored! Then Johnny Cash recorded Sunday morning coming down. All of a sudden he was embraced by Nashville and now has a long list of iconic songs to his credit! Now everyone knows Kris Kristopherson!

😮😮😮😮Love this classic always. Next time I watch Gladiator I'll think of this video. Never knew Maximus could sing. Together, they are an amazing duo.
